Former Herman resident Raymond F. Ricker, 62, of North Platte, died 
Sunday, April 7, 2002, at Linden Court in North Platte. Funeral services 
April 11, at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home in Blair. Interment in the Herman 
Cemetery. 

Shirley I. WALKER, 81
Shirley I. Walker, 81, of Tekamah, died Saturday, April 6, 2002, at the 
Memorial Community Hospital in Blair. Funeral services April 9, at the 
United Methodist Church in Tekamah. Interment will be in the Tekamah 
Cemetery. Shirley Irene Walker was born Aug. 5, 1920, in Blair to Lesley 
and Ethel (Brown) Renshaw. On Sept. 17, 1951, she married 
Harvey H. Walker in Columbus. Hamel-Peck-Pelan Funeral Home in Tekamah 
is in charge of arrangements.  

Lorraine MADSEN, 76
Former Blair resident Lorraine Madsen, 76, of Loveland, Colo., died Mar 25, 2002
at her home at Good Samaritan Village. Memorial services were Mar 28, and 
Monday, April 1, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Denver. Memorial services 
will also be held at First Lutheran Church in Blair at a later date. Lorraine Elizabeth 
Madsen was born Feb. 16, 1926, in Underwood, Iowa, to Herman and Nina Sandberg. 
She was preceded in death by her husband.

Lillian B. STERNBERG, 86
Lillian B. Sternberg, 86, of Blair, formerly of Eureka Springs, Ark., died 
March 30, 2002. A memorial service held April 3, at First Lutheran Church in Blair. 
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alexander, and a grandson, Mark. 
Campbell-Aman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. 

Peter Christian BACKHUUS, 75
Peter Christian Backhuus, 75, of Bennington, died Friday, March 29, 2002
at his residence in Bennington. A funeral service at St. John's Lutheran 
Church in Bennington. Burial will follow at the Flower Hill Cemetery in Bennington.

Phyllis J. RUPP, 66
Funeral services for Phyllis J. Rupp, 66, of Blair, were held May 11, 2002, at 
Hennessey-Aman Funeral Home in Missouri Valley, Iowa. Interment was at 
Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Missouri Valley. Mrs. Rupp died May 8, in Omaha. 
Phyllis J. Rupp was born Feb. 17, 1936, in Missouri Valley to Harry J. and Cecil 
(Niles) Hosman. On Sept. 1, 1972, she married Lowell A Rupp Jr. in Blair. 
Preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Max Brewer and Lowell Rupp Jr.; 
sisters, Lucille and Alice; and brothers, Albert, Bernard Sr. and Vern. 
Hennessey-Aman Funeral Home in Missouri Valley was in 
charge of arrangements.

Emma Sue HARTLEY, 89, of Tacoma, Wash., passed away June 11, 2002. 
She was 89 years old. Born in Aug 1912 to Otto and Lizzie Mencke. Preceding 
her in death were her parents; a brother, Don Mencke; sisters, Gertrude Nelson, 
Deloris Kochner, Minnie Thaden, Betty Brothers, Sophie Hineline, Martha Cushman, 
Pearl Anderson; her husband, Chuck Hartley; a son, Robert Lee Lund; and a 
grandson, Monte Lund. She was cremated with her ashes spread in her rose 
garden. Memorial service June 24 at the Holy Court Kingdom Hall in Fir Crest, Wash.

Otto F. MEYER, 84, of Blair, died June 22, 2002 in Blair. Funeral services 
June 25, in the chapel at Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Blair. Interment will be 
in the Tekamah Cemetery. Otto F. Meyer was born Oct. 24, 1917, in Scribner to 
George Henry Hermann and Anna (Marx) Meyer. On Feb. 14, 1940, married 
Bernice Jensen at Craig. Preceded in death by his wife, Bernice; two brothers, 
Robert and Richard; and six sisters, Ella, Alma, Martha, Pauline, Ruth and Margaret. 
Hamel-Peck-Pelan Funeral Home in Tekamah is in charge of arrangements. 

Tim STODDARD, 29 
A Mass of Christian Burial for Tim Stoddard, 29, of McKinney, Texas, June 27, 2002
at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Blair. Interment will be in the Holy Cross 
Cemetery. Tim died suddenly on June 22 in Dover, Del. Timothy James Stoddard 
was born Nov. 9, 1972, in Kenmore, N.Y., to Paul and Barbara (Comstock) Stoddard. 
On Oct. 15, 1993, married Jeannette Coleman in Mondamin, Iowa. Campbell-Aman 
Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. 

Ross E. DAVIS, 89 
Ross E. Davis, 89, of Fremont, formerly of the Blair and Kennard areas, died
June 23, 2002 in Scribner. Graveside services at the Blair Cemetery. Ross E. Davis 
was born June 27, 1912, on a farm in the rural Tekamah area to Ben and Rose (Ellis) 
Davis. On Oct. 16, 1938, married in Fremont to Roselena Petersen of Blair. Preceded 
in death by his wife, Roselena, three brothers and a grandchild. Ludvigsen Mortuary 
in Fremont is in charge of arrangements.

Donald WOODWORTH, 80 
Hastings resident Donald Woodworth, 80, died May 28, 2002, at his home. 
Funeral services were held May 31 at First United Methodist Church in Hastings. 
Interment was at Fort McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell. Born July 18, 1921
in Craig to William and Lilly (Carlson) Woodworth. On July 21, 1946, married Lyla Guyer 
of Blair, daughter of H. Lyle and Viva Guyer. Preceded in death by one brother. 
Butler-Volland Funeral Home in Hastings was in charge of arrangements.
