Lance HERNANDEZ, Sr.
Lance Hernandez, Sr., 79 of Kimball died June 12, 2002 at his home. 
Mass of Christian Burial was June 17 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church 
in Kimball. Burial was in Kimball Cemetery. Born on Dec 25, 1922 in 
San Julian, Jalisco, Mexico to Cesario and Petra (Hurtado) Hernandez. 
Married Ann Gonzales Feb 18, 1947 in Coachella, Calif. and returned to 
Kimball and started their family. He was preceded in death by his 
parents, his wife on Oct 29, 1995, one brother and one sister. 

Marvin FOSTER
Marvin Elgie Foster, 67, of Guernsey, Wyo., and formerly of Kimball 
died June 12, 2002, at his home in Guernsey. Funeral 
services were June 17 at the Platte Funeral Chapel in Wheatland, Wyo. 
Interment was at the Prairie Rest Cemetery at Guernsey, with military 
graveside rites conducted by the Lake Guernsey Veterans of Foreign 
Wars Post No. 4471. He was born July 5, 1934 in Kimball, to Elmer Elgie 
and Lois Edna (Hildebrand) Foster. Preceded in death by his parents. 
Platte Funeral Chapel of Wheatland is in charge of the arrangements.

Arthur SNYDER
Arthur C. "Boney" Snyder, 96, of Loveland, Colo., formerly of Banner 
County, Neb., died June 18, 2002. Graveside services
June 24, at the Kimball Cemetery. Born June 10, 1906, in Banner 
County to Mervyn and Mary Koenig Snyder. He married Ella Mae 
Brown on Dec 20, 1931, at Gering, Neb. Preceded in death by his 
wife, on Sept. 7, 2001; parents, brothers Meck, James, Glen and 
Herbert, sisters Pinkie Brown, Bessie Larson, Ruby Hanson and 
Susie Eckland, grandson David Brown and step great-grandson 
Joshua Norberg. 

Dale HALSTEAD
Dale Halstead, 79 of Kimball died on June 10, 2002. 
A memorial service June 13 at the Cantrell Funeral Home in Kimball. 
Cremation and burial of the remains at  Kimball Cemetery. Military 
honors presented by Kimball V. F. W. Post 2243. Born on July 5, 1922 
in Banner County, to Merton and Margaret (Tjardes) Halstead. He and 
Marilyn Stairs were married in Kimball on April 7, 1968. Preceded in death 
by his parents, infant daughter Linda Kay and infant son Lee Ray and 
brothers William and LeRoy Halstead.

Gus SAKELARIS
Gus Sakelaris, Jr. 64 of Albuquerque, New Mexico and formerly of Kimball, 
died on May 29, 2002 at his home. A memorial service was June 1 at the 
French Mortuary Westside Chapel of Albuquerque. He was born Dec 6, 1938 
in Kimball to Gus and Luella Mae Sakelaris. He was preceded in death by 
his parents and a brother John.

Robert SHIERY
Robert Dean Shiery, 63 of Kimball died on June 3, 2002 at Ogden, Utah. 
A graveside service June 6 at the Kimball Cemetery. Born Sept 25, 1938 
in Dallas County, Iowa to John and Pearl (Lyons) Shiery. He married Connie 
K. Fagen Feb 20, 1960 at Perry, Iowa. Preceded in death by his wife Connie 
on April 14, 1998 and by his parents. 

Mary VANPELT
Mary Emma (Woten) VanPelt, 91, of Banner County, died May 31, 2002. 
Funeral services were June 5 at the Gering Memorial Chapel. Burial was 
at the West Lawn Cemetery in Gering. Born on October 27, 1910, at 
Cedar Rapids, Nebr. to Hugh and Mary Ella (Purdy) Woten. Married 
Roy VanPelt on Sept 6, 1932 at Kimball, Neb. Preceded in 
death by her parents, husband Roy on Jan 13, 1983, son William Hugh 
(Bill) VanPelt, sisters Vera Woten and Grace White; brothers Dell and 
Robert Woten, two grandsons, one infant grandchild and two infant 
great grandchildren.
