Wahoo News June 2005 OAKLAND - Vivian Maynett ANDERSON, 94, of Oakland, died June 17, 2005. Anderson was born May 22, 1911, to Emel and Ellen (Erickson) Johnson in rural Ceresco. On July 23, 1940, she married Carlando Anderson at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Ceresco. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother, Leland Johnson; two sisters, Engeleen Paul and Lorette Johnson. Funeral services were held June 20 at the Salem Covenant Church in rural Oakland. Burial was in the Salem Cemetery in rural Oakland. SCHUYLER - Beatrice M. BRAZDA, 92, of Schuyler, died June 20, 2005. Brazda was born Nov. 23, 1912 to Joseph and Anna (Macourel) Kment in Colfax County. She married Fred Brazda in 1938.Her parents; her husband; a daughter, Diane Brazda; and a brother, Jerry Kment, preceded her in death. Mass of Christian Burial was held June 22 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Schuyler. Burial was at the Schuyler Cemetery. GRESHAM - Evelyn GONNERMAN, 94, of Gresham, died June 14 at Utica. Gonnerman was born Nov. 22, 1910 to Carl and Seinie (Dey) Schlueter in York County. On Feb. 15, 1931 married Raymond D. Gonnerman at Gresham. Her parents; her husband; a brother-in-law, Leroy; and an infant grandson preceded her in death. Funeral services were held June 16 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Gresham. Burial was at Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Gresham. COLON - Henry F. MAHRT, 90, of Colon, died June 16, 2005 in Fremont. Mahrt was born Dec. 17, 1914, to John and Adele (Hoffman) Mahrt in rural Colon. He was raised on the family farm, where he farmed and lived all his life. He received recognition from Ak Sar Ben for the farm being in the family for over 100 years. On Sept. 16, 1937, he married Pearl M. Knutzen in Minola, Iowa. His parents; a son, Ralph Mahrt; and four brothers Herman, Bernard, LaVern and Rudolf Mahrt, preceded him in death. Funeral services were held June 20 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Cedar Bluffs. Burial was at Memorial Cemetery in Fremont. DAVID CITY - Ernest A. NAVRATIL, 89, of David City, formerly of Loma, died June 16. Navratil was born June 21, 1915 to Alois and Mary (Holcapek) Navratil in Loma. On May 28, 1940 he married Mary Ekstein at St. Luke's Church in Loma. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Father Edmund Navratil and Joseph Navratil; and a sister, Margaret Kriz.
