Scottsbluff Star Herald Apr 2006 LAKE HAVASU CITY, Ariz. - Harvey "Babe" Keller, 69, died Mar 25, 2006. There will be no memorial services. He was born Jan. 13, 1937, in Scottsbluff to Pete and Katherine (Becker) Keller. He proudly served in the US Army in the 51st Airborne Infantry, mostly in Germany. He was a member of the California Search and Rescue team for many years. Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Beth; children, Sheryl and Diana Keller of Scottsbluff, Patty of Sacramento; stepchildren, Robert Laythem of San Antonio Cathy Baudino of Lake Havasu City; sisters, Gloria Relka of Scottsbluff, Marian Heilbrun of Gering; brother, Rodger (Mike) Keller of Ridgecrest, Calif.; and grandchildren, Ryan Keller of Scottsbluff, Delylia and David of San Antonio, Jonathan and Stephanie of Lake Havasu City. Henry Prester, 86, of Scottsbluff, died Friday, April 7, 2006 in Gering. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, April 10 at Zion Evangelical Church in Scottsbluff. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery with military rites by the Nebraska National Guard. Henry was born February 15, 1920 in Minatare to George and Anna (Brill) Prester. Entered the Army Nov 18, 1941, and was injured in France Aug 18, 1944. He received the Purple Heart and was honorably discharged May 17, 1945. He is survived by his sister Katie Weideman of Scottsbluff; sister-in-law Frieda Prester of Gering; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers. DENVER, Colo. - Michael McDonald Selzer, 84, passed away peacefully , Apr 3, 2006. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, April 21, at Christ Episcopal Church in Sidney with Rev. John Andrews presiding. A graveside service will be held at 4 p.m., Friday, at Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff. Born in Scottsbluff, Nov.16, 1921, to Milton and Dorothy (Lawrence) Selzer, the second of three children. Married Lucille Wertz in June 1946 and following her death in 1952, married Jo (Dent) Selzer Feb. 13, 1954. He was a graduate of the University of Nebraska and a WWII veteran. Preceding him in death were his parents and his brother, Jim. KIMBALL - LaVerne F. Goranson, 74, died Apr 5, 2006. A celebration of his life will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 8, at the First English Lutheran Church in Kimball. Interment will follow in the Kimball Cemetery. LaVerne Francis Goranson was born the youngest of five children on Sept. 7, 1931, to Phillip A. and Anna M. (Anderson) Goranson. Was drafted into the United States Army in 1952. He & Carol E. Fyfe were united in marriage June 17, 1960. Born to this blessed union three children, Elaine Francis who was stillborn, Dennis LeRoy and DeAnna Mae. Preceding him in death were his parents, an infant daughter and brothers J.R., Raymond and Virgil. Robert Winton Slama, 86, of Potter, died Tuesday, April 4, 2006, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, April 10, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Sidney. Cremation will take place following the service. Inurnment in the Potter Cemetery will be held at a later date. Born Dec. 22, 1919, in Omaha to Charles and Jessie (Sapp) Slama. In 1942 he was inducted into the Army and served with the 604th Anti-aircraft Artillery Battalion in Bayone, New Jersey and Newfoundland. Married Elizabeth Tresnak Ballegeer on his birthday in 1947. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Raymond, brother-in-law, Roy Adams, and great-grandson Matthew. DENVER, Colo. - Lorita Ellen Young, 72, formerly of Sidney, died Tuesday, Apr 4, 2006, at her residence in Denver. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, April 7, at Adamson Downtown Chapel, in Greeley. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Greeley. Born Oct. 4, 1933, to Oren and Dessie (Longan) McNurlin in Broadwater, Neb. She graduated from high school in Sidney Neb. and continued her education at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. Married Robert Young Oct. 26, 1952, in Sidney. They later divorced. Preceding her death was her brother, Marvin McNurlin and sister, Elsa Keenan TORRINGTON, Wyo. - Majel Debolt, 97, died Mon., April 3, 2006. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 8, at the United Methodist Church. Cremation will take place following the service. The casket will be closed at the service. Arrangements are under the direction of the Colyer Funeral Home. MITCHELL - Frieda Schwab, 90, formerly of Scottsbluff, died Mon., April 3, 2006. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m., April 6, at the Salem Congregational Church in Scottsbluff. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery. Born June 18, 1915, in Scottsbluff to Conrad and Margaret Elizabeth (Tittle) Haun. She graduated from #39 Country School. Married Edward Schwab Sept. 4, 1934, in Scottsbluff and the couple farmed north of Minatare for 39 years.
