Wahoo News Aug 2006 WAHOO - Lucille A. KONECKY, 89, of rural Mead, died Aug. 16, 2006 in Wahoo. Born March 29, 1917 to Anton and Stella (Brabec) Cuda in Wahoo. She attended the Phelan elementary school near Mead and Mead High School. She married Lloyd J. Konecky on Jan. 20, 1941 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Wahoo. Preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a daughter-in-law, Vicki Konecky and brothers, Tony and Max Cuda. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Ron and Marlene Konecky of Prescott, Ariz., Larry and Donna Konecky and Rick and Joan Konecky, all of Lincoln; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 22 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Wahoo. Interment will be at St. Francis Cemetery in Wahoo. She was born Aug. 9 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Lincoln. She was preceded in death by great-grandparents Edward Fascio, John and Ruth Rosencrance, W.T. Marchall Sr. and Norris Mahan. BORK, 90, of Cedar Bluffs, died Aug. 14, 2006 in Fremont. Born June 29, 1916 to Herman and Mary (Maddox) Bork in Decatur, Ill. He served in the United States Army during World War II from Oct. 7, 1942 to April 13, 1944. His parents and a sister, Bernice Dickenson, preceded him in death. He is survived by a daughter, Nancy King of League City, Texas; a sister, Nancy Lind of Texas; a special friend, Cheryl Sudik of Wahoo and one grandson. Graveside services: at 10 a.m., Aug. 16 at Memorial Cemetery in Fremont. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Fremont Honor Guard of the VFW Post 854 and American Legion Post 20. Born Aug. 9, 1917 to John and Barbara (Vrana) Dvorak in rural Prague. Preceded in death by her parents, and four brothers, Frank, Jerry, Bohumil and Benny. She is survived by a brother, Albin Dvorak of North Bend; a sister-in-law, Margaret Grotelueschen of Oakland; several nieces and nephews and many friends. EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - Joe Dean FAUVER, 80, of Edwardsville, Ill. died Aug. 3 at his home. Born Feb. 17, 1926 to Earl E. and Alpha M. Fauver in Wymore. He married Helen Brown in 1948 at Falls City. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sister-in-law, Earl E. and Shirley Fauver Jr., Don Max Fauver and William Ronald Fauver; and a sister-in-law, Karen Fauver. Inurnment of cremated remains of both Joe and Helen will take place at a later date at the Wymore Cemetery with honors by the Wymore Ameri-can Legion Post Color Guard. WAHOO - Diane NELSON, 41, of Wahoo, died Aug. 11 at her home in Wahoo. Born Sept. 17, 1964, to George L. and Ludmilla (Coufal) Meduna in Wahoo. She attended St. Wenceslaus Grade School and was a 1982 Bishop Neumann High School graduate. On July 21, 1984 she was united in marriage to Tim Nelson at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. Her father preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband; daughter, Lindsey Nelson, son, Christopher Nelson, mother, Ludmilla Meduna, all of Wahoo; a brother, George J. Meduna; sisters and brothers in law, Mary Ann and Chris High, and Janice and Mark Meyerson, all of Lincoln. Mass of Christian Burial was held Aug. 16 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Wahoo. Born April 28, 1922, to John and Emily (Cejka) Pestal in rural Wahoo. He was a 1938 graduate of Weston High School. On Dec. 9, 1950 he married Dorothy Maresh at Platte, S.D. His wife; his parents, a sister, Esther Jasa, and infant sister, Irene Harriett Pestal, preceded him in death. Funeral Service was held Aug. 15 at the Czech Presbyterian Church at Wahoo. Born Jan. 15, 1913 to Vincent and Bessie Moravec of Prague. She grew up at the family farm near Prague and graduated from Prague High School in 1931. Moved to Omaha where she married Leo Policky on Feb. 20, 1939. Her parents, two siblings and her husband preceded her in death. Her sisters, Helen Cerney of David City, Emily Stodola, Ruby Stodola and brother, Joe Moravec, all of Omaha, and many nieces and nephews, survive her. Funeral services were held on Aug.14 at St. Mary's Church in Omaha. Burial was at Calvary Cemetery. Brewer Korisko in Omaha was in charge of arrangements. WAHOO - Jacki Lea SANDERS, 52, of Wahoo, formerly of Oakland, died Aug. 11, 2006. Born Oct. 25, 1953, to Joyce A. and Bonnie (Phillips) Sanders in Oakland. Her grandparents, George and Dollie Phillips and Charles Sr. and Violet Sanders, preceded her in death. Funeral service was held Aug. 14 at the Memorial United Methodist Church in Lyons. Born Nov. 27, 1934 to William and Rosa (Frahm) Kehres in Deshler. On Aug. 7, 1955 she married Edward H. Rood at Salem Lutheran Church in Fremont. Her husband, and her parents preceded her in death. WAHOO - Margaret A. MEYSENBURG, 86, of Wahoo, died Aug. 18, 2006. Born on Feb. 25, 1920 to Joseph and Mary (Shimerka) Roh at Abie. On Nov. 7, 1942 she was united in marriage to John A. Meysenburg at Ft. Crook, Nebr. The couple settled in Wahoo after John returned from serving in the Army. Preceded in death by her husband, a son, John A Meysenburg Jr., brothers, Edmund, Leonard and Jerome Roh, and a sister, Mary Davidson. He served in the United States Army Air Corp during World War II. His parents, and a brother, John Lungershausen, precede him in death. He is survived by his wife, DeLaine, of Lincoln; daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Donald Hall of Lincoln and Linda and Dale Leffers of Malcolm; a sister, Arlene Haggstrom of Anchorage, Alaska; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Aug. 23 at Wadlow Rosanek Funeral Home in Lincoln. Graveside services were held at Sunrise Cemetery in Wahoo. WAHOO - Karen M. FYLSTRA, 67, of Wahoo, died Aug. 17, 2006. Born March 20, 1939 to Herman and Vera (Williamson) Wolff in Lincoln and grew up on a farm near Ithaca. She was a 1956 graduate of Wahoo High School. On May 8, 1960 she married Roger Fylstra at the First United Methodist Church in Wahoo. She was preceded in death by her parents, and stepmother, Ann McKlem. Funeral services were held Aug. 22 at the Pruss-Nabity Funeral Home. Interment was at Sunrise Cemetery in Wahoo. WAHOO - Harold F. HANKE, 88, of Wahoo, died Aug. 29 at his home. Born May 22, 1918 to Rudolph and Marie (Hageman) Hanke in Wahoo. He graduated from Ceresco High School in 1936. On Oct. 5, 1938, he married Hazel Milton in Malmo. His son, Clarence Hanke and a great-grandson, James, preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Sat., Sept. 2 at the Swedeburg Covenant Church. Born July 28, 1920 to Vincent and Clara (Svoboda) Shimerka at Abie. On Feb. 3, 1945 he married Georgia Musilek at St. John's Catholic Church in Prague. He served in the Army during World War II and during the Korean War from Nov. 15, 1950 to Aug. 28, 1951. He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife. Mass of Christian Burial was held Aug. 28 at St. John's Catholic Church in Prague. Burial was in the St. John's Catholic Cemetery with military honors conducted by American Legion Post 254 of Prague and final call by the Prague Fire Department. YUTAN - Linsworth Alwood OSLAND, 86, died Aug. 27, 2006 in Wahoo. Born on Feb. 3, 1920 to Lars and Petra (Larson) Osland near Chester, Iowa. He was inducted into the U. S. Army Air Corp on Oct. 6, 1941. He married Hazel Jacobson on Nov. 4, 1950 at the Salem Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, Minn. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, brothers, Orvin and Harold Osland and sisters, Anna Marge and Anna Marie. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Aug. 31 at LeRoy Lutheran Church in LeRoy, Minn. Interment will be at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. (Pinkerton) Matejka in Omaha. He married Jean Stein on Feb. 4, 1973 in Las Vegas, Nev. He was a U.S. Marine Corps Vietnam Veteran. Preceded in death by his parents, and nephews, Christoper J. Matejka and Joshua B. Derryberry. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Aug. 30 at King of Kings Lutheran Church, in Omaha. Interment with military honors will be at Bohemian Cemetery. On June 20, 1950, she was married to Leonard Masek at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Prague. She is preceded in death by a son, Duane Masek; a grandson, Jeremy Masek, and a sister, Dorothy Novotny. Mass of Christian Burial was held Aug. 29 at St. Vitus Catholic Church in Touhy. Burial was at St. Vitus Cemetery. BRAINARD - Eugene HORACEK, 74, of Brainard, died Aug. 24 at his home. Born Mar 25, 1932 to John and Adelaide (Polansky) Horacek on the family farm near Brainard. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a farmer and lifelong Butler County resident. His parents and a sister, Rita Mae Polak, preceded him in death. Funeral services: Aug. 28 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Brainard. Burial will be in the Old Holy Trinity Cemetery in rural Brainard with military rites conducted by the Brainard American Legion Post 273. Preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Janice Hein; a son, Adrian Hein; three sisters, Adeline Prochaska, Lillian Kopecky and Tillie Ustohal; a granddaughter, Mary Matulka, and a grandson, Ryan Hein.
