FAIRFIELD BAY, Ark. - Maxine Johnson, 88, of Fairfield Bay, Ark., died Thursday, Jan. 12, 2006 
in Little Rock, Ark. Maxine Johnson was born on April 8, 1917, in Murdock to Allen and Clara Pershing.
She graduated in 1935 from Ashland High School and then attended Peru State Teacher's College 
graduating in 1940 with honors and as a member Who's Who's in America. She taught in rural schools 
and taught mathematics in several high schools for many years. She married Carter Johnson in April 1944. 
The couple had no children. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother Arthur; sisters 
Harriet Pershing and Eileen Gottman; brothers-in-law Percy Minnerly, Bud Schudt, Ted Gottman and 
Wayne Rogers. Her body was donated to science. There will be no services.
