Sioux City Journal March 12, 2006 HOMER, Neb. -- Laurence Leslie "Dood" Harris, 83, of Homer died Friday, March 10, 2006, at a Sioux City Hospital. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Homer United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Omaha Valley Cemetery, rural Homer, with military rites conducted. Born May 30, 1922, in Winnebago, Neb., the son of Daniel L. and Maude M. (O’Dell) Harris. He married Rosetta J. York on Nov. 8, 1954, in Sioux City. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Theresa McNaughton; his parents; three brothers, Harold, Harry and Howard; three sisters, Alice, Ora and Doris; and a stepgrandchild, Kenneth Ray Jordan. MACY, Neb. -- Franklin Porter, 51, of Macy died Friday, March 10, 2006. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Alfred Gilpin Building in Macy. Burial will be in the Omaha Tribal Cemetery at Macy. Franklin was born on Jan. 5, 1955, in Winnebago, Neb., to Dudley and Esther (Hallowell) Porter. Survivors include sisters, Mabel Blackbird of Macy, Edna Phillips of Walthill, Neb., Julia Morris and her husband, David and Maggie Walker and her husband, Steve, all of Macy; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Franklin was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Fletcher Mitchell Sr.; and an infant sister, Gina Porter. HINTON, Iowa -- Evelyn M. Egdorf, 82, of Hinton passed away Friday, March 10, 2006. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. Burial will be in Prairie View Cemetery at Paullina, Iowa. Evelyn Margaret Egdorf was born on Feb. 15, 1924, at Broken Bow, Neb. As an infant, she was adopted by Alfred and Vinus (Fuller) Robson. On July 22, 1945, Evelyn and Raymond F. Egdorf were united in marriage at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Paullina. Raymond passed away on Sept. 1, 1998. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond; two brothers; and two sisters. HOMER, Neb. -- Ross Edward Kelly, 81, of Homer passed away Friday, March 17, 2006, in Pender, Neb. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Homer. Burial will be in Omaha Valley Cemetery, with military rites. Ross was born Nov. 14, 1924, in Thurston County, Neb., the son of Eugene F. and Amelia J. (Bauerly) Kelly. He married Betty Ann Jessen on Jan. 20, 1953, in Homer. He served in the U.S. Army 1954-1956. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Raymond. EMERSON, Neb. -- Bernadine Clara Steele, 85, of Emerson died Tuesday, March 21, 2006 in Norfolk, Neb. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Emerson. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Emerson. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh Funeral Home in Emerson. COLERIDGE, Neb. -- Claire C. Janssen,70, of Coleridge died Tuesday, March 21, 2006, at Providence Medical Center in Wayne, Neb. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Coleridge.
