Tri-City Tribune Mar. 2006 Dorothy S. Jess, 85, of Lexington, Nebraska, formerly of Dannebrog, Nebraska died Thursday, March 16, 2006. She was born May 2, 1920, in Dannebrog, Nebraska, to Charlie and Sarah (Steffenson) Lauritsen. On June 26, 1940, she married Alvin Jess. Survivors include her son Alan Jess of Ralston, Nebraska; a daughter Cheryl Refior of Lexington, Nebraska; grandchildren: Leroy Jess of Logan, Iowa; Michelle Parker of Juniata, Nebraska; Jeffrey Karel of Cozad, Nebraska; Kristine Burgert of Plattsmouth; along with eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Alvin in 2002; two brothers, Gilbert and Carl and sister Lorraine Elvers. Funeral Services were held Monday, March 20, 2006, at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Dannebrog, Nebraska. Burial is in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Dannebrog, Nebraska. Helen Elnora Mickelson- Brodin-Wessman, 96 of Lexington, NE. died Thursday, March 16, 2006 at the Tri-County Hospital in Lexington. Born to Henry & Emelia (Ettesvold) Mickelson on June 17, 1909 in Morris, MN. She married Elmer G. Brodin of rural Windom, MN. in 1932. Elmer died on September 10, 1950. In 1964 Helen married Walter Wessman of Anaheim, CA. Helen was preceded in death by her husbands, Elmer and Walter; her son Dr. Arlen Brodin, 1995; her parents and four brothers, Orville, Bernard, Herbert, and Donald. Funeral Services were held Tuesday, March 21, 2006, at 10:00 a.m. at LaCanne Funeral Home in Windom, Minnesota. Interment was held at Delafield Cemetery in Windom, Minnesota. Memorial Service was held Friday, March 24, 2006, at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lexington. Evelyn R. Swanson, 95, of Lexington, NE, formerly of Overton, NE, died Friday, March 17, 2006. Born February 5, 1911 to Henry and Rosa (Brell) Young. Evelyn married Kenneth Swanson on June 1, 1932, in Gosper County. To this union one son, Rodney, was born. Kenneth preceded her in death on February 26, 1970. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers Leroy and Kenneth and one grandson Dan. Funeral Services were held Wednesday, March 22, 2006, at 2:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Lexington. Burial was in the Overton Cemetery in Overton, Nebraska. Larry Meester, age 63 of Cozad, died March 17, 2006. He was born August 28, 1942 at Gothenburg to Walter and Hannah Johanning Meester. He graduated from Gothenburg High School. On March 21, 1964, he married Linda Walter. In 1965, the couple moved to Cozad. He served in the U. S. Army from 1966 to 1968. He was preceded in death by his father; a brother, Terry and a sister, Betty. Services were held Wednesday, March 22, 2006 at the Berryman Funeral Home Chapel in Cozad. Burial will be in Fort McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell. Earline Dewey, age 62 died March 18, 2006 at her rural home in Overton. She was born December 28, 1943 at Ogallala to Earl and Genevieve Willets Dolan. She graduated from Lexington High School. On October 7, 1961 she married Vernon L. Dewey and they later divorced. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Donald Dolan in 1965; a son, Ricky Dewey in 1989 and a grandson, Dakota McKillip in 2002. A memorial has been established in her memory. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. (today) Thursday, March 23, 2006 at the Berryman Funeral Home Chapel in Cozad. Burial will be in the Elwood Cemetery. Mary F. Huff, 67, of Cozad, Nebraska, formerly of Callaway, died Tuesday, March 21, 2006. She was born May 11, 1938, at Callaway, Nebraska to Jessie and Frances Woodward. Mary was united in marriage to David E. Huff on September 26, 1959. Two children were blessed to this union; Charles and Frances. Preceded in death by her husband, David E. Huff in October of 1983, her parents, and baby sister, Ruth Ann. Services will be Friday, March 24, 2006, at 2:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Callaway, Nebraska with Reverend Gerald Schwarz, officiating.
