West Point News March 8, 2006 Eugene Adolph Evert, 79, of West Point, died Tuesday, Febr. 28, 2006 in Omaha. Mass of Christian burial was Saturday, March 4, 2006 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Burial was in St. Michael’s Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Luetta, of West Point; daughters, Janet and Chuck Ross of Wisner, Lois and Michael Growney of Las Vegas, Nev., and Carol and Dale Lofgren of West Point; sons, Allen and Aggie of Las Vegas, Nev., Glen and Peggy of Elkhorn and Roger and Joyce of Marshall, Minn.; brother, Frank of Dodge; sister-in-law, Joann Evert of West Point; 15 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Dorothy Ross, 88, of West Point were Monday, March 6, 2006, at Grace Lutheran Church in West Point. Burial in the Mt. Hope Cemetery. Dorothy died Thursday, March 2, 2006. Survivors include a daughter, Judy and Dean Strehle of Omaha; sons, Gary and wife, Elaine Ross of Lincoln, David and Karen Ross of Fremont, Chuck and Janet Ross of Wisner; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Gladys Reimers of West Point; sisters-in-law, Lorena Ross of West Point, Norma Jean Ross of Wisner, Elaine Ross of Fremont, and Irene Benne of Springfield, Ohio. Funeral services for Eva C. Fillmer, Fremont, were Tuesday, March 7, 2006 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Fremont. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Fremont. Eva died Friday, March 3, 2006. Survivors include a sister-in-law, Teresa Peatrowsky of Fremont, nephews, Thomas and Marie Peatrowsky of Fremont and many other nieces and nephews. Lily Weitzenkamp, 97, West Point, died, March 2, 2006. Funeral services were Monday, March 6, 2006, at Grace Lutheran Church in West Point. Burial in Mount Hope Cemetery. Survivors include her children, Dorothy and Frank Bay of Milan, Ill., Larry Weitzenkamp and Audrey White of Kotzebue, Ala., Leta Searcy of Phoenix, Ariz., and Roger and Diane Weitzenkamp of Dolores, Colo.; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Alvera Sorensen, 83, of Bancroft, died on Wednesday, March 1, 2006. Funeral services were Saturday, March 4, 2006, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bancroft. Burial was in the Bancroft Cemetery. Survivors include her husband, Dale Topp of Winside; daughters, Trisha and Eric Johnson of Des Moines, Iowa and Tracy Topp and husband Matthew Marsolek of Arlee, Mont. five grandchildren; sister, Verna (Babe) and Carl (Fudd) Freese of Edenton, N.C.; brother, Rod and Jan Slonecker of Wisner. Elinor Groth, 65, West Point, died March 8, 2006 in Beemer. Funeral services were Saturday, March 11, 2006, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, West Point. Burial at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery, Bancroft. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin in May of 2005, her father, infant son, Douglas Paul and her parents-in-law, Fred and Anna Groth. Funeral services for Boyd Schantz, 82, of Beemer were Friday, March 10 at the Beemer Mennonite Church in Beemer. Private family burial was in the Beemer Cemetery. Boyd died Monday, March 6, 2006. Elmer died on Tuesday, March 7, 2006, in West Point. Martin Tietz, 97, Bancroft, died Sunday, March 12, 2006 in West Point. Funeral services were Wednesday, March 15, 2006, at Zion Lutheran Church, rural Bancroft. Interment was at the Bancroft City Cemetery. Survivors include sisters-in-law, Lavonne Tietz of West Point and Jean Tietz Rebensdorf of Pender and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Virgil (LeRoy) Priestley, 62, Fremont, were Thursday, March 16, 2006, at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Burial was at Mount Hope Cemetery in West Point. Virgil died Monday, March 13, 2006. Funeral services for Marie Weitzenkamp, 98, were Tuesday, March 21, 2006, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Lyons. Burial was in the Lyons Cemetery. Marie died Friday, March 17, 2006 in Oakland. Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Beverly Weitzenkamp of Lyons; sister, Mabel Wobken of West Point; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Orva D. Brazda 95, Beemer, formerly of West Point, died Friday, March 17, 2006, at St. Francis Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were Wednesday, March 22, 2006 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, West Point. Burial at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Survivors include two sons, Douglas of West Point and Dave and Gloria of Santa Fe, NM; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Iva Gelster of Phoenix, Ariz. She was preceded in death by her husband, Omer; parents, brothers and sisters, Ella Zeplin, Edward Zeplin, Herbert Zeplin, Herman Zeplin, Ilva Bruning and Elsie Zeplin. Funeral services for Aaron Ruskamp, 18, of Wisner, were Friday, March 17, 2006, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Wisner. Burial was in the Rock Creek Cemetery, rural Beemer. Aaron passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2006, at his residence. Survivors include his parents, Gerald and Marlene Ruskamp of Wisner; brothers, Nathan and Carl Ruskamp, paternal grandmother, Ethel Ruskamp of Columbus, maternal grandparents, Artwin and JoAnn Fullner of Wisner; maternal great-grandmother, Delilah Abendroth of West Point. Funeral services for Marian (Micky) Sellentin, 92, will be Friday March 24, 2006, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, West Point. Burial will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery.
