Gering Courier Oct 2006 SCOTTSBLUFF - Raymond R. GORDON, 95, of Scottsbluff, died on Oct. 7, 2006. Cremation was held and private services were held by the family. Born Dec. 4, 1910 in Graf, Neb. to William Adelbert and Cora Belle (Cook) Gordon. He is survived by his daughter: Kristen Gordon; and four grandchildren: Lisa Firsick, Elna Anne Gordon, Barbara Kristen Gordon, and R. J. (Joe) Gordon. He was preceded in death by his wife: Elna Hazel Furman Gordon; son: William Furman Gordon; and grandson: William Lloyd Gordon. SCOTTSBLUFF - Eva GREEB, 95, of Scottsbluff died Oct. 6, 2006. Funeral services were held Oct. 9 at Zion Evangelical Church in Scottsbluff. Interment followed at Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff. Born June 11, 1911, in Rosenberg, Russia to Phillip and Anna (Kuxhaus) Martin. She immigrated with her family to Sugar City, Colo. in 1913, and moved to the North Platte Valley in 1915. She married George Greeb March 8, 1928, in Bridgeport. Eva became a U.S. citizen on Sept. 14, 1934. Her parents; husband, George; brothers: Fred, David, Robert, and Dan; and sisters: Anna, Molly, Mary, Kathryn, and Helen preceded Eva in death. GERING - Kyle Doak NICKERSON, 28, of Gering, died on Oct. 5, 2006. Funeral services were held Oct. 9, at the Lockenour-Jones Mortuary in Cambridge, Neb. Interment was in the Fairview Cemetery in Cambridge. Born Aug. 17, 1978, to H. Doak and Kay (Wymore) Nickerson in Rapid City, S.D. He lived with his parents in Minatare, until the age of six. Preceding him in death was a twin brother: Tyler at birth; maternal grandmother: Barbara Wymore; paternal grandparents: Harold and Esther Nickerson; and uncle: Dennis Wymore. MITCHELL - Leo REUTER, 90, of Mitchell, formerly of Scottsbluff, died Oct. 9, 2006. His funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Oct. 12, 2006 at the Emmanuel Congregational Church in Scottsbluff. Interment will follow at the Fairview Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites being provided by the Nebraska National Guard. Born Nov. 7, 1915 in Mitchell to Jacob and Dorothea (Mehling) Reuter. Served in the U. S. Army during World War II from which he received a Purple Heart, the Good Conduct Medal and several other medals. Married Marie Funk on Dec. 16, 1945 at Gering. His parents; a sister: Esther; and several in-laws preceded him in death. SCOTTSBLUFF - Charles Francis SCHAFER II, 85, of Scottsbluff, passed away Oct. 1, 2006 at Emerald Court in Scottsbluff. A Memorial Mass was held Oct. 5, at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Scottsbluff. Full Military honors by the U. S. Air Force followed the service at the church. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Denver.Charles, the son of Charles F. and Rosetta Davis Schafer, was born July 18, 1921 at Scottsbluff. He retired Aug. 31, 1964 from the U. S. Air Force as a Major. He married Mary Viola Drayer in 1943. He later married Mary Holly in 1976.
