NEWMAN GROVE - Barbara KRAMERS, 65, of Newman Grove, died 
Sept. 11, 2006. Services are pending with Newman Grove Memorial 
Funeral Home. 

SCHUYLER - Mabel A. KASPAR, 94, of Schuyler, died Sept. 9, 2006.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday at St. John's Lutheran 
Church, Shell Creek, rural Columbus. Burial is at Roselawn Memorial 
Cemetery. Born April 13, 1912, in the Bissell Community, Colfax 
County, to Robert and Alma (Loseke) Welch. On April 25, 1933, Mabel 
was united in marriage to Elden Kaspar at St. John's Lutheran Church. 
Preceded in death by her husband, Elden Kaspar; brother, Pete Welch; 
and sisters, Maggie Mackenstadt, Annie Bridges and Vera Loseke.

MONROE - Ronald D. REESE, 39, of Monroe, formerly of Columbus, died 
Sept. 11, 2006, at the Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha. Services will 
be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at the Monroe Methodist Church. 
Burial is at the Gruetli Cemetery, rural Monroe.

COLUMBUS - Duane J. THIEM, 76, of Columbus, died Sept. 12, 2006.
Services are pending with McKown Funeral Home. 

COLUMBUS - Gene K. SCHEFFLER, 61, of Columbus, Nebraska 
died Sept 13, 2006 at the Columbus Community Hospital.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Federated 
Church in Columbus. Burial is at Fairview Cemetery near Creston.
Born April 12, 1945, in Norfolk, to Lowell and Ruby (Reitz) Scheffler. 
Gene served in the U. S. Army 1962-1964. On July 26, 1969, Gene 
married Diane Bartak in Madison. Preceded in death by his father, 
Lowell Scheffler and three brothers.

YUMA, Ariz. - Duane M. DREESEN, 81, of Yuma, Ariz., died Sept. 11, 2006.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church 
in Hartington. Burial, with military honors, is at St. Michael's Cemetery in 
Hartington. Born Oct. 5, 1924, in Hartington, to Frederick and Minnie 
(Peterson) Dreesen. He was in the U. S. Navy from 1945-46.
He married Marian Carlson June 22, 1947. Preceded in death 
by his parents. 

COLUMBUS - Benjamin J. ROBBINS, 28, of Columbus, died Sept. 14, 2006
at his home, following a battle with cancer. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. 
on Monday at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Columbus. 
Burial is at the Columbus Cemetery. McKown Funeral Home is 
in charge of arrangements. 

COLUMBUS - A. Lucille “Lu” JONES, 71, of Columbus, died 
May 24, 2006, at her home. Memorial graveside committal services 
will be held at 11 a.m. on Sept. 18, 2006 at the Columbus. 
Gass Haney Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. 

NELIGH - Jonathan Dale RACELY, 79, of Neligh, Sept. 17, 2006.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sept. 21, 2006 at the Church 
of Christ in Neligh. Born June 17, 1927, to Fred and Amelia (Beckmann) 
in Center. He married Blanche Barnes on Feb. 27, 1949, in Neligh. 
Blanche passed away June 12, 1993.

FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. - Pauline Ellen (Tschudy) VOSS, 98, of Ft. 
Lauderdale, Fla., died Sept 6, 2006. Private graveside memorial 
services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Columbus 
Cemetery. Gass Haney Funeral Home is in charge of local 
arrangements. 

COLUMBUS - Harold OPPLIGER, 95, of Columbus, died Sept. 18, 2006.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at St. Luke's United 
Church of Christ. A family burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday 
at Roselawn Cemetery.

COLUMBUS - Kevin David WEMHOFF, 39, of Columbus, Sept. 18, 2006, in 
Lancaster County as result of an automobile accident. Services: Sept. 21, 2006 
at St. Isidore Catholic Church in Columbus. Born Aug. 16, 1967, in Norfolk, to 
Ludwig and Viola (Fuchs) Wemhoff. Marriage to Julie Gasper on May 25, 1991, 
at St. Francis Catholic Church in Humphrey. Preceded in death by his father, 
Ludwig Wemhoff; and grandparents, Joe and Cecelia Fuchs, and Phillip 
and Anna Wemhoff.

YORK - Lucille M. BOYD, 90, of York, formerly of Stromsburg, died Sept. 18, 2006.
Memorial service: Sept. 21, 2006 at Dubas Funeral Home in Stromsburg. 
Burial is at the Stromsburg Cemetery. Lucille was born Feb. 12, 1916, to 
Adam J. and Bertha (Olson) Keehn. 

COLUMBUS - Warren P. MELLIGER, 85, of Columbus, died Sept. 22, 2006.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Bonaventure 
Catholic Church. Burial is at St. Bonaventure Cemetery, with military honors.

CLARKSON - Milo J. MUNDIL, 70, of Clarkson, died Sept. 24, 2006.
Services are pending with Miller Funeral Home in Clarkson. 

GENOA - Alphonse “Al” DUBAS, 69, of Genoa, died Sept. 25, 2006
at his home. Services are pending with Rice Funeral Home. 

COLUMBUS - Alvara RAMM, 79, of Columbus died Sept. 29, 2006.

COLUMBUS - Ellene SAUNDERS, 84, of Jackson, Ohio, formerly of 
Columbus, died Sept. 29, 2006, in Jackson Resident Care Center.
Services are pending with Gass Haney Funeral Home in Columbus.

HUMPHREY - William BAXTER, 85, of Madison died Sept. 30, 2006.
Services are pending with Duesman Funeral Chapel of Humphrey. 

NEWMAN GROVE - Elsie FOWLKES, 87, of Newman Grove died 
Sept. 29, 2006 in Norfolk. Services are 2 p.m. Oct. 2, 2006 at Trinity 
Lutheran Church in Newman Grove. Burial in Hope Cemetery at 
Newman Grove. Born July 9, 1919, at rural Verdigre, the daughter 
of Frank and Josepha (Skalicky) Sokol. On Feb. 11, 1941, she 
married “Pete” Fowlkes at Trinity Lutheran Church in Newman Grove. 
Preceded in death by her parents, her husband “Pete” in 1974, two 
brothers, Jerry in infancy, and Charlie, two sisters, Helen Pospisil 
and Martha Kliment. 

COLUMBUS - Jeffrey Lee ARNDT, 47, of rural Columbus died 
Sept. 28, 2006. Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Oct. 3, 2006 at 
St. Joseph Catholic Church in Platte Center. Born Feb. 7, 1959, in 
Columbus to Kenneth and Shirley (Rieken) Arndt. On June 8, 1979, 
Jeffrey was united in marriage to Lenni Fyfe at St. Bonaventure 
Church in Columbus. Preceded by: father: Kenneth Arndt, mother: 
Shirley Arndt; brother: David Arndt, brother: Paul Arndt; and 
maternal and fraternal grandparents. 

PAWNEE CITY - Delaney Anne FUEHRER, newborn daughter of 
Gene and Laura (Kubik) Fuehrer of Lincoln, was born at rest on 
Thursday, Sept. 28, 2006, at Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha.
Memorial services are 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Presbyterian 
Church, in Pawnee City. Interment is at Pawnee City Cemetery.
Service arrangements by Wherry Mortuary, Pawnee City.
Delaney is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Wanda 
(Fuehrer) Mundil and Milo Mundil; and Ernest Fuehrer. 

PLATTE CENTER - John “Jack” GRONENTHAL, 68, of Platte Center died 
Sept. 27, 2006, at Creighton Medical Center in Omaha. Funeral services 
are 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Platte Center. 
Interment is in Ss. Patrick/Joseph Cemetery with Military Honors 
by Platte Center Parry Post No. 283. Born Nov. 3, 1937, in Monroe 
to Louis and Edith (Langan) Gronenthal. Preceded in death by: father 
Louis Gronenthal, mother Edith Gronenthal, sister and brother-in-law 
Vivian (Al) Mazerolle, and niece Maquela Mazerolle. 

ST. EDWARD - Audrey I. CUMMING, 88, of St. Edward died Sept. 30, 2006
in Albion. Services are pending at Miller-Levander Funeral Home in St. Edward.
