North Platte Bulletin Sept 2006 Grace Mae EGLE, 87, of North Platte died at her home Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2006. On June 24, 1919, a baby girl was born to Ole and Myrtle Rasmussen in North Platte. Virgil Egle and Grace married on June 23, 1940. They had two daughters, Shannon and Cindy. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Harold Rasmussen, sister Olive Refior and an infant sister Violet. Cremation was chosen. Services will be Sept. 23 at the First Christian Church. Arrangements are with Odean Colonial Chapel. Dr. Lewis A. McCORMICK, 69, of North Platte, formerly of Paxton, died Sept. 14, 2006. Born April 25, 1937, in Sutherland to Clarence Andrew “C.A.” and Grace Lawson McCormick of Paxton. Following graduation from medical school he interned at Charity Hospital in New Orleans, La. Lewis served as a captain in the U.S. Army Medical Corps. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. Services were Sept. 18 at Odean Colonial Chapel. Burial was in the Paxton Cemetery. Kenneth W. MERRELL, 86, a lifelong Lincoln County resident, passed away Sept. 14, 2006. Born Aug. 17, 1920, to John C. and Emily A. Larson Merrell in Lincoln County. Marriage Aug. 31, 1968, to Martha Johansen at North Platte. Preceded in death by his wife and his parents. Services were Sept. 18 at Carpenter Memorial Chapel. Burial was at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens. Myron Leslie “Mike” RUMERY, son of Myron G A and Mattie Washburn Rumery, went home to be with his savior Sept. 16, 2006, after losing a battle with cancer. Born Dec. 28, 1936, in Ravenna. In 1959, Mike married Pauline Evans in Fairbury. They had three children, Scott, Jeff and Kristin Anne. Preceded in death by his father Myron G. A. Rumery, granddaughter Melissa Anne Luther, and special pet Irving. Services were Sept. 18 at the First Baptist Church in North Platte. A private family graveside service with military honors was at Fort McPherson National Cemetery. Hazel TREGO, 100, of North Platte passed away Sept. 14, 2006. She was born Feb. 16, 1906, to John Delbert Cherry and Bellala Gurton Bivens at Fairbury. On May 26, 1928, Hazel married John William Trego. They had a son, William Howard Trego, who preceded her in death in 1953 in an auto accident while serving in the military. Preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son; sisters Gladys Albers, Grace Hall, Mary Belle Cherry and Lois Bellin; brothers Donald Cherry and Jack Cherry; sisters-in-law Helen Mathers of Sutherland and Thelma Trego of North Platte; and longtime friend, ranch employee and partner Hans Johnson.
