Sioux City Journal Sept. 2006 Charles THOMAS, 70, of Ankeny, Iowa, formerly of Sioux City, died Aug. 31, 2006, due to a heart attack. A Celebration of Life Service will be 7 p.m. Tuesday at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, in West Des Moines. Arrangements are under the direction of Brooks Funeral Care in Clive, Iowa. Born on Aug. 2, 1936, to Byron and Claire Thomas, in Omaha, Neb., where he grew up. Donna H. GREEN, 85, of Sioux City died Sept. 12, 2006, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Born Aug. 15, 1921, in Tilden, Neb., the daughter of Thomas and Lucille (Burger) Hutton. She was raised in the Inman, Neb., area, moving to Sioux City in 1940. She married Vernon E. Green on Dec. 20, 1941, in Nebraska. He died in July 1991 in Sioux City. Preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Tom and Richard; and a granddaughter, Ammie. Connie WHITMORE died Sept. 11, 2006. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel. Born May 3, 1940, in Butte, Neb., the daughter of Robert and Viola (Fuehrer) Borrall. She graduated from Heelan High School in 1958. On April 6, 1967, she married George Whitmore. Preceded in death by a granddaughter; her parents; and a brother, Robert Lee. Thelma BOLLINGER, 87, of High Point, N.C., formerly of Sioux City died on Sept. 14, 2006. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Emerywood Baptist Church in High Point, N.C. Inurnment will be in the church columbarium. Thelma Doxtad Bollinger was born April 8, 1919, in Emerson Neb., to Lewis Doxtad and the former Agnes Rhode. She married Ross Bollinger,following his discharge from U.S. Army Air Force. The family lost their oldest, a son, Rodney at 16, in an automobile accident in 1963. Survivors include her husband, Ross Bollinger of High Point; a daughter, Deborah Bollinger, currently living in Kawasaki, Japan; a son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Susan Bollinger of Chattanooga, Tenn.; and grandchildren, Adam and Paige Bollinger of Chattanooga. SOUTH SIOUX CITY -- Virginia Rose BECKER, 78, of South Sioux City died Sept. 14, 2006, at a Sioux City hospital following a long illness. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in South Sioux City. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery, Sioux City. Born on Sept. 17, 1927, in Crofton, Neb., the daughter of Wade H. and Louise (Renner) Broome. She graduated from St. Mary's High School in Omaha, Neb. in 1945. She married Jack E. Becker on Sept. 30, 1950, in South Sioux City. He died on July 27, 1979, in Sioux City. Preceded in death by three infant daughters; four brothers; and a sister. William BOUSQUET, 51, of Omaha, Neb., formerly of Sioux City died Sept. 14, 2006. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Harvest Community Church in Omaha. Services will also be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at Eastside Baptist Church in South Sioux City. Arrangements are under the direction of Heafey Hoffmann Dworak & Cutler Funeral Home in Omaha. DAKOTA CITY -- Joyce E. OBAN, 73, of rural Dakota City passed away Sept. 14, 2006, at a Sioux City hospital. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at United Methodist Church in Homer, Neb. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery, Sioux City. Born March 31, 1933, in South Sioux City, the daughter of Henry and Madalene (Craig) Hendricks. She married Dwaine L. Oban on April 2, 1952, in Worthington, Minn. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son Tim; a brother, Craig Hendricks; and a sister, Dorothy Mayberry. SOUTH SIOUX CITY -- Mary Ellen BERG, 90, of South Sioux City passed away Sept. 15, 2006. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Lutheran Church. Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in Tabor Lutheran Cemetery at Wausa, Neb. Arrangements are under the care of Becker-Hunt Funeral Home. Born Feb. 16, 1916, in Creighton, Neb., the daughter of Ray and Effie A. (Rumsey) Bard. Mary Ellen married Milton D. Berg on June 22, 1941, in Wausa, Neb.
