Svoboda Funeral Home in Wahoo is in charge of the arrangements. ELKO, Nev. - Pauline Ann MASEK, 87, died Aug.1 in Elko, Nev. Pauline Ann Blei was born Nov. 18, 1918 in David City. She married Ervin J. Masek on Feb. 4, 1941 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in David City. Her husband passed away in 1995. She then moved to Winnemucca, Nev. Funeral services were held Aug. 7 at the DeYoung Memorial Chapel in Stockton, Calif. Burial was at the San Joaquin Catholic Cemetery in Stockton, Calif. BRIDGEPORT - Ray M. LANIK, 73, of Bridgeport, died Sept. 1, 2006. Born July 10, 1933 to Ed and Rose (Otto) Lanik at Wahoo. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Peters, July 12, 1953 at Wahoo He served with the United States Army from 1955 to 1957. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Tom, brother, Charles Lanik and sister, Helen Mandelko. A memorial service was held Sept. 5 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church at Bridgeport. Inurnment was in Oregon Trail Memorial Cemetery at Bridgeport with military honors provided by the Bridgeport Honor Guard. Jolliffe Funeral Home at Bridgeport was in charge of the arrangements. OMAHA - John S. "Jack" DONLEY, 83, of Omaha, died Sept. 1, 2006. Born Oct. 18, 1922 to John Stafford and Mae (Warner) Donley. He joined the United States Army on Dec. 17, 1942. He graduated from Yankton College and married Jeanette Kline on Aug. 17, 1946. A son, Mike Donley, and two sisters, Cordelle and Pat, preceded him in death. A memorial Mass will be offered on Sept. 6 at 9 a.m., at Walnut Grove Auditorium, in Omaha. Interment will be at Fort McPherson National Cemetery. Born on Dec. 6, 1919 to Elmer and Ethel (Winstrom) Johnson in Wahoo. Married Kenneth E. Dailey on Dec. 27, 1946 at Creighton University in Omaha. Her husband, son, Larry Dailey, grandson, Alex Dailey, two sisters and one brother, preceded her in death. Mass of Christian Burial was Sept. 12 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Wahoo. Born on Sept. 23, 1964 to Douglas and Sharon (Soden) Harrison in Wayne. His mother, and grandparents, Orval and Mildred Harrison and Norman and Frances Soden, preceded him in death. Funeral service was held Sept. 7 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Yutan with Rev. Vi-taus Grinvald officiating. Interment was at Hollst Lawn Cemetery in Yutan. CEDAR BLUFFS - Marge HUSCHER, 84, of Cedar Bluffs, died Sept. 8 in Fremont. Born Nov. 14, 1921 to Lester and Zola (Landis) Rhine in Haddam, Kan. Married Ray Huscher on July 15, 1950 in Lincoln. Preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister and two brothers. Funeral services were held Sept. 12 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church. Burial was at Memorial Cemetery at Fremont. BRAINARD - Lorraine E. KOZISEK, 84, of Brainard died Sept. 7 in David City. Born Nov. 4, 1921 to John and Emma (Behne) Piitz on a farm west of Brainard. On April 3, 1945 she married Alois B. Kozisek. Preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother, Lawrence Piitz; three sisters-in-law, Bernice Piitz, Dorothy Piitz and Martha Piitz; and a former son-in-law, Ed-ward J. Kucera. Funeral services were held Sept. 9 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Brainard. Burial was at Holy Trinity Cemetery in rural Brainard. WAHOO - Albert R. VLASAK, 89, of Wahoo, died Sept. 9, 2006. Born on July 31, 1917 to Charles and Mary (Ostry) Vlasak in Prague. He was inducted into the U. S. Army on Dec. 2, 1941 and was wounded in action on Feb. 27, 1945 in the European African Middle Eastern Theater. He was in the Third Armored Infantry Division. He was awarded the Purple Heart, the Oak Leaf Cluster and the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal. Married Mildred Havelka on Oct. 16, 1948. His parents, a brother, Bohumil Vlasak, sisters, Agnes McFarland and Ann Hruska, precede him in death. Mass of Christian Burial : Sept. 14 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Wahoo. Burial will be at St. John Cemetery in Prague. DODGE - Louis ZAKOVEC, 92, of Dodge, formerly of Morse Bluff, died Sept. 3 at his home. Born Dec. 24, 1913 to John and Anna (Ondracek) Zakovec in Morse Bluff. On July 9, 1957 he married Sylvia Holub in Dodge. His parents, his wife, and brothers, Frank R. Zakovec, John Zakovec and an infant brother, Sylvester, preceded him in death. Funeral services were held Sept. 9 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dodge. Burial was at Killian Cemetery near Morse Bluff. OMAHA - Garrell "Gary" Jay HOFMANN, 68, of Omaha, died Sept. 14, 2006. Interment was at Hollst Lawn Cemetery in Yutan. WAHOO - Helen M. KRUMEL, 90, of Wahoo, died Sept. 17, 2006. Born on Jan. 5, 1916, to Frank and Emma (Koutny) Simodynes in Wahoo. Married Al Krumel on August 29, 1939 in Wahoo. Her husband, and three brothers preceded her in death. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Sept. 21 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Wahoo. Interment will be at St. Francis Cemetery. Born March 8, 1921 to Walter and Clara (Anderson) Lindgren at Wahoo. He enlisted in the U. S. Army on Oct. 19, 1942. Married Marjorie Sorenson on Aug. 10, 1951 at Edensburg Lutheran Church in Malmo. He spent his life as a farmer and raised cattle. Preceded in death by his parents, and sister and brother-in-law, LaVerne and Elmer Vermeline. Funeral services will be Sept. 21 at Edensburg Lutheran Church in Malmo. Interment will be at Edensburg Lutheran Cemetery with Military Graveside Honors conducted by Malmo American Legion Post 232. WAHOO - Pauline A. SCHWARTZ, 87, of Wahoo, died Sept. 28, 2006. Born on May 19, 1919 to Vaclav and Anna (Janecek) Voboril in Prague. Married Delbert W. Schwartz on Feb. 18, 1938 at Chehalis, Wash. Preceded in death by her husband, Delbert W. Schwartz; son, Philip L. Schwartz, and 12 brothers and sisters. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Oct. 2 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Wahoo. Interment will be at St. Francis Cemetery in Wahoo. ORLANDO, Fla. - Glenn Charles NELSON, 74, of Orlando, Fla. died Sept. 14 at his home in Orlando. Born on Jan. 25, 1932, to John and Marie Nelson in Omaha. Married Marjorie Eschliman on Feb. 1, 1953 at the Baptist-Presbyterian Church in Valley. His parents and his parents-in-law, Harley and Pansy Eschliman preceded him in death. Funeral services were held Sept. 23 at United Faith Community Church in Valley. Graveside service and burial was at Arborville Cemetery in Polk. DAVID CITY - Frank B. MIRIOVSKY, 84, of David City, died Sept. 21, 2006. Born Sept. 7, 1922 to Frank and Bettie (Hain) Miriovsky at Garland. He graduated from Garland High School. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II in the Philippines from 1943 to 1946. On Jan. 17, 1949 he married Beatta Palik at Immaculate Conception Church in Ulysses. His parents, a son, Mark Miriovsky, a son-in-law, Ron Coleman and a sister, Mary Navratil, preceded him in death. Mass of Christian Burial was held Sept. 25 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in David City. Burial was at St. Mary's Cemetery in David City. MEAD - Dale L. MAPES, 72, of Mead, died Sept. 22 at his home in Mead. Born on July 27, 1934 to Frank L. and Josephine A. (Taylor) Mapes at Eli. He served in the U. S. Air Force in the Korean War, served with the National Guard for 28 years. On May 22, 1976 he married Elva Parks in Ainsworth. His wife, his parents, a grandson, Clint Eli Mapes, a brother, Sherman Eugene Mapes, and a sister, Nettie Mae Young, preceded him in death. Graveside services were held Sept. 26 at the Connelly Flats Cemetery in Eli with military rites conducted by the Cody American Legion Post. TOUHY - Thomas "Tom" BURESH, 86, of Touhy, died Sept. 22, 2006 in Wahoo. Born Nov. 1, 1919, to Joseph and Frances (Votava) Buresh at Valparaiso. He and his sister, Agnes, were longtime caretakers of the St. Vitus Catholic Church and Cemetery. Preceded in death by brothers, Jim, Steven and Ben Buresh, and one infant brother; sisters, Tillie Machacek, Bridget Hruby, Agnes Buresh and two infant sisters. Many nieces and nephews and other relatives survive him. Mass Christian Burial was held Sept. 25 at St. Vitus Catholic Church in Touhy.
