Jason Alan MIFFLIN, 33, died Aug. 10, 2007. Born Sept. 11, 1973, in Seward 
to Stan and Mary Mifflin. Preceded in death by brother Jon Mifflin; grandmother 
Jean Gothier; and uncle Ray Harr. Services were Aug. 14 at St. John's Lutheran 
Church in Seward. 

Loren L. ALLEY, 35, Seward, died Aug. 12, 2007. Born April 23, 1972.
Services Aug. 16, at 10 a.m. at the Wood-Zabka Funeral Home.

Kenneth G. CHAB, 69, Friend, died Aug. 6, 2007, in Crete. Born April 17, 1938
at a farm one mile east of Swanton to Elmer and Blanch Chab. On Sept. 17, 1961, 
he married Glory J. Pribyl at the First Congregational Church in Friend. Preceded in 
death by brother-in-law Robert Krajnik. Services were Aug. 9 at the United Church 
of Christ in Friend. 

Elliot NAVIS, 20, Seward, died Aug. 15, 2007. Born Sept. 18, 1986 in Sioux Falls, S.D.
Preceded in death by his grandfather William I. Navis. Services were Aug. 18, 2007 at 
St. John Lutheran Church in Seward. 

Loisjean Emily Luebbe LINHORST was born Dec. 8, 1929 to Theo D. Luebbe and 
Emma Rafert near Waco. She died of cancer on Aug. 24, 2007, at the age of 77 
years, 8 months and 16 days. On Mar 16, 1951, she married Martin F. Linhorst of 
Hillsboro, Mo. at Zion Lutheran Church in Hastings. Services held Aug. 29, 2007 
at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Burial will be at Utica Cemetery. 

Helen I. JOHNSON, 86, Waverly, died Aug. 22, 2007, in Lincoln, NE.
Born Oct. 15, 1920, in Goehner to Otto and Anna Hans. Preceded in death 
by husband Elmer; brothers Herbert, Chester, Harold and Arnold Hans; and 
sister Ruth Hans. Services were held Aug. 25, 2007 at Lincoln Memorial 
Funeral Home. 

Joyce Ann CORTNEY, 71, died Aug. 20, 2007, in San Diego, Calif.
Born March 4, 1936, in Clarington, Ohio, to William and Mae Gates. 
On June 10, 1955, married William Cortney at Powhatan Point, Ohio. 
Following William's death, she moved to Escondido, Calif. Preceded in 
death by husband William; brother Andrew Gates; and sisters Donna 
Mays and Nancy Crawford. Services were Aug. 24, 2007 at Volzke 
Funeral Home. Internment was at Seward Cemetery.
