SOUTH SIOUX CITY -- Betty June SATTERWHITE, 82, of South Sioux City died
Aug. 4, 2007 in South Sioux City. Services at Christy-Smith Berkemier Chapel. 
Burial will be in Omaha Valley Cemetery at Homer, Neb. 

SOUTH SIOUX CITY -- Ralph James "Jim" BARRS, 44, of South Sioux City died 
July 31, 2007, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minn., from a heart condition.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Becker-Hunt Funeral Home. Burial will be 
in Memorial Park Cemetery. 

SOUTH SIOUX CITY -- Fred MATNEY Jr., 76, formerly of South Sioux City and 
Homer, Neb., died Aug. 2, 2007, in Scott City, Kan. Services will be 10:30 a.m. 
Tuesday at Becker-Hunt Funeral Home. Burial will be in Omaha Valley Cemetery, 
rural Homer. Born Aug. 17, 1930, in Sioux City, the son of Fred and Opal (Wilson) 
Matney Sr. He was a retired truck driver and a U.S. Navy Veteran. Married Opal 
Mae Howard on June 21, 1949, in Sioux City. She died Feb. 8, 1986, in Sioux City. 
He then married Laverne Rogers Pearson in Greensburg, Kan. Preceded in death 
by his parents; a daughter, Diane Matney; two brothers, Harold and Duane; and 
a granddaughter, Kristy Matney.

ALLEN, Neb. -- George C. MENKENS, 88, of Lincoln, Neb., formerly of 
Allen, died, July 29, 2007. Memorial services will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Rudge 
Chapel at Wyuka Cemetery, Lincoln. Born Oct. 15, 1918, in Center, Neb., to 
Charles and Anna (Dinsen) Menkens. Married Frieda Berreth Jan. 30, 1952 in 
Council Bluffs, Iowa. Preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Andrew, Carl 
and Herbert Menkens; and his favorite dogs, Tinker, Rags and Socks. 

LAUREL, Neb. -- Carla ERWIN, 56, of Laurel died July 30, 2007 in Wayne, Neb.
Services at United Methodist Church in Laurel. Burial will be in Laurel Cemetery. 
Arrangements are under the direction of Hasemann-Schumacher Funeral 
Home in Laurel. 

WHITING, Iowa -- Cleta I. WAUGH, formerly of Whiting, passed away Aug. 7, 2007.
Services at First Congregational Church in Whiting. Burial will be in Whiting Cemetery. 
Cleta Irene Harding Waugh was born June 5, 1914, in Opportunity, Neb., the daughter 
of Bert and Esther (Johnson) Harding. She married Jewell O. Waugh on July 5, 1930, in 
Council Bluffs, Iowa. Preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jewell; infant 
son, Norman; and a son-in law, Robert Clayton.
 
DECATUR, Neb. -- Joann I. FRENCH, 67, of Decatur died Aug. 9, 2007 in Onawa, Iowa.
Services at Trinity Lutheran Church in Walthill, Neb. Burial will be in Hillcrest 
Cemetery, Decatur. 

DECATUR, Neb. -- Lawrence L. WEDGEWOOD, 74, of Decatur died Aug. 8, 2007.
Graveside services on Aug. 11, 2007 in Tekamah Cemetery, Tekamah, Neb., with 
military rites conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Bataan Post 3304 and 
the America Legion LaFrenz Post 15. Arrangements are under the direction of 
Pelan Funeral Service in Tekamah. 

PENDER, Neb. -- Hazel A. ALLEN, 94, of Pender died Aug. 8, 2007.
Services at Munderloh Funeral Home in Pender. Graveside services 
in Crofton City Cemetery, Crofton, Neb. 

WAYNE, Neb. -- Ilene Post LIEBSACK, 82, of Omaha, formerly of the Wayne 
and Norfolk communities, died Aug. 10, 2007, at an Omaha hospital. Services 
will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Wayne. Burial will 
be in Greenwood Cemetery at Wayne. Arr. Haseman-Schumacher Funeral Home 
in Wayne. 

LYONS, Neb. -- Ella UEHLING, 92, of Lyons died Aug. 12, 2007 in Pender, Neb.
Services at Memorial United Methodist Church in Lyons. Burial in Lyons Cemetery.

WYNOT, Neb. -- Rudy A. BOECKMAN, 76, of Wynot died Aug. 18, 2007 
in Yankton, S.D. Services at Holy Family (Sacred Heart) Catholic Church 
in Wynot. Burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Wynot, with military rites 
conducted by American Legion Post 31 of Wynot. Arr. by Wintz Funeral 
Home in Hartington, Neb. 

OAKLAND, Neb. -- Jeffrey H. BUSH, 50, of Oakland died Aug. 16, 2007
at his home. Memorial services Aug. 27, at Pelan Funeral Home in Oakland.

HOMER, Neb. -- Edward L. McROBERTS Jr., 41, of Homer died Aug. 21, 2007
at his home. Services on Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Homer.

in South Sioux City. 

THURSTON, Neb. -- Donald H. "Don" MAHLER, 80, of Thurston died Aug. 23, 2007
in Pender, Neb. Services Aug 27, 2007 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Pender. 
Burial will be in St. Mark's Lutheran Cemetery. 

LYONS, Neb. -- Donald C. UPDIKE, 80, of Lyons died Aug. 25, 2007, at 
a Sioux City hospital. Memorial services at Bethany Lutheran Church in Lyons. 
Military rites conducted by the American Legion Harvey Lenig Post 83 and the 
Veterans of Foreign Wars Robert Klase Post 7998. Private family graveside 
services will be at a later date. Arr. are under the direction of Pelan Funeral 
Service in Lyons. 

ST. HELENA, Neb. -- Dorothy A. STRATMAN, 63, of St. Helena died Aug. 26, 2007.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Aug 29, 2007 at Holy Family Catholic Church in St. Helena. 
Burial will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Arr. by Wintz Funeral Home in 
Hartington, Neb. 

SPENCER, Iowa -- Margaret Helen BARBER, 99, of Spirit Lake, Iowa, formerly 
of Spencer, passed away Aug. 24, 2007. Services at Warner Funeral Home in 
Spencer. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Margaret Helen "Margie" Barber, the 
daughter of William and Dora Valder Moyer, was born Aug. 18, 1908, in Tekamah, Neb. 
On Dec. 7, 1930, married Donald Gates Barber in Nebraska. Preceded in death by her 
parents; her husband, Don on Oct. 13, 1990; a grandson, Eric Rhinehart; and a 
great-grandson, Thomas Boysen.
