OMAHA - Vernice M. JOHNSON, 95, formerly of Greenwood, 
died Feb. 9, 2007. Born Feb. 16, 1911, on a farm near Lincoln to 
Horatio and Harriet (Hughes) Templeton. Preceded in death by 
her husband, John Johnson Sr. Survived by son, John Jr. of Omaha; 
daughters and sons-in-law, Arlene and Brad Jones of Western and 
Carolyn and Lad Bednar of Denton, Texas; 12 grandchildren and 
4 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Feb. 13 at 
Metcalf Funeral Home in Lincoln. Interment followed at the 
Wyuka Cemetery. 

ASHLAND - Evelyn L. BRODD, 92, died Feb. 6, 2007.
Born on June 28, 1914, in rural Memphis, to Frank and Jennie 
(Wilgus) Semenec. Preceded in death by husband Lawrence, 
parents and brother Donald. Funeral services were held Feb. 8 
at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, in Lincoln and interment 
following at Lincoln Memorial Park. 

CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. - Marjorie B. JONES, 77, died Jan. 30, 2007
in Chippewa Falls, Wis., surrounded by her children and grandchildren. 
Marjorie Belle Stith was born in Ogallala on May 7, 1929, to Jennie 
Emily Sarah Hinrichs and Albert Raymond Stith. She married Jesse 
Weldon Jones, son of Grace Rose Bosworth and Jesse William Jones
on Aug. 14, 1948, at the Methodist Church in Ashland. Preceded in 
death by her husband, parents and younger sister Anita Rae Stith. 
It was Marjorie's desire to have a graveside service in the Ashland 
Cemetery. Due to weather conditions, a simple service was held 
at the Marcy Mortuary Chapel in Ashland on Monday. 

GREENWOOD - Everett M. ERICKSON, 84, died Feb. 1, 2007, at 
home near Greenwood. Born on June 23, 1922, in Kirk, Colo. to Albert 
and Fannie (Mathis) Erickson. On Aug. 26, 1945, he married Phyllis Gray 
at the Greenwood United Methodist Church. Preceded in death by his 
parents and infant son. A memorial service was held Feb. 5 at the 
Ebeneezer United Methodist Church in Murdock. A private inurnment 
will be held at Greenwood Memorial Cemetery. 

LINCOLN - Edward L. BALLOU, 91, of Lincoln, died Feb. 3, 2007.
Born in Ashland Dec. 25, 1915, to Otis and Lulu (Laughlin) Ballou. 
On July 26, 1941, he married Ruth Leard in Papillion. Preceded in 
death by his parents, uncles, aunts and cousins. Funeral services 
were held at the Marcy Chapel. Interment followed at the 
Ashland Cemetery.

ASHLAND - Sally Ann (Breeden) WAGNER, 94, of Ashland, passed away 
Feb. 22, 2007, at Lakeside Hospital in Omaha. Born on Aug. 21, 1912, 
to Sam and Leota (Thomas) Breedon in York. Marriage to Leland S. Wagner 
at the First Christian Church in Ashland on Mar. 4, 1934. Preceded in death 
by her husband, who died on June 7, 1981. Funeral services: Feb. 27 at the 
First Congregational Church. Marcy Mortuary in charge of arrangements. 

OMAHA - Elmer L. FICK, 86, of Omaha, passed away Feb. 20.
Preceded in death by his parents Edward and Bertha and sister Mabel. 
Survivors include his wife Frances of Omaha; son Bob of Omaha; nieces 
Lana and husband Paul Miller and Carol Mangan, all of Ashland, Merlee 
and husband Bob Hudson of Hershey; many great and great-great nieces 
and nephews. Funeral services were held Feb. 23 at Braman Mortuary in 
Omaha. Interment was at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Omaha.
