Colby Leigh HICKEN, 21, of Gothenburg, died Feb. 2, 2007, in 
a vehicle accident. Services were held Feb. 7 at the American 
Lutheran Church of Gothenburg. Burial was at the Gothenburg 
Cemetery. Born Dec. 9, 1985, at Gothenburg, to Robert and 
Barbara (Mak) Hicken. Preceded in death by: his aunt, Lynn 
Lohrman; grandparents, Frank and Dorothy Hicken.

Michael Jerry PHILLIPS, 59, of Beatrice died Jan. 30, 2007.
Services were held on Feb. 2, at Harman-Wright Mortuary 
Chapel at Beatrice. Burial was at Grandview Cemetery at Gothenburg.
Born on Jan. 1, 1948, at Lexington. Preceded in death by: his father, 
Lloyd Phillips; his mother, Judy (Brody) Meyers; half-brothers, Patrick 
Benjamin Puleo and Tom Phillips.

William Minor LYNE, 78, of North Platte, died Jan. 31, 2007.
A memorial service: on Feb. 9, 2007, at Odean Colonial Chapel 
at C & Sycamore. Inurnment for Lyne and his wife, Patricia who 
died Jan. 27, 2007 will be at Ft. McPherson National Cemetery 
with military honors. Born on April 24, 1928, at Jewell County, KS, 
to Glen Scott and Lela Mae Renkin Lyne. Preceded in death by: 
his parents, Glen and Lela; his wife, Patricia on Jan. 27, 2007.

Opal L. BAUER, 88, of Gothenburg, died Feb. 1, 2007.
Services: Feb. 5, at the First Presbyterian Church of Gothenburg. 
Burial was at the Gothenburg Cemetery. Born on Feb. 9, 1918, at 
Lexington, to Bert L. and Lena (Lange) Hollibaugh. Preceded in 
death by: her parents, Bert and Lena; her husband, Conrad in 
1994; one sister and two brothers.

Elmer BONSACK, 80, of Friend died Feb. 12, 2007. Services will 
be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 16, at the Godberson Mortuary 
in Gibbon. Family burial services will be held at a later date.
Born Nov. 29, 1926, in Hall Co., to Herbert O. and Charlotte V. 
(Wiggins) Bonsack. Preceded in death by his parents, his 
wife in 1996, son Jerry, brother Herb Jr. and brother-in-law 
Sherman Poffenbarger.

Ruby E. GERDES, 94, of Gothenburg, died Feb. 10, 2007.
Services were held on Feb. 13, at the American Lutheran 
Church of Gothenburg. Burial took place at the Grandview 
Cemetery near Gothenburg. Born on July 14, 1912, near 
Gothenburg, to William and Tena (Ostendorf) Gerdes, the 
first of five children. Preceded in death by: her parents, 
William and Tena Gerdes; a brother, William Gerdes; 
sister, Norma Jean Gerdes.

Geraldine Estella SLACK, 90, died Feb. 15, 2007.
Services: Feb. 20, at the American Lutheran Church of 
Gothenburg. Burial was at the Gothenburg Cemetery.
Born at Hastings on Dec. 22, 1916, to Bert and Violet 
(Rothrock) VanMeter. She was preceded in death by: 
her husband, William; a daughter, Mary Ann Slack; 
three brothers—William VanMeter, Victor VanMeter 
and Gerald VanMeter; a sister, Betty VanMeter.

Lloyd William GENGENBACH, 82, of Brady, died Feb. 15, 2007.
Memorial services: Feb. 21 at the American Lutheran Church 
of Gothenburg. Burial will be held at a later date at Floral 
Lawn Cemetery of North Platte. Born to William F. “Bill” and 
Martha (Hueftle) Gengenbach, on Sept. 25, 1924, at Eustis.
Preceded in death by: his parents, Bill and 
Martha; a sister, Laura.

Robert Lyle (Bob) HARDNOCK, 75, formerly of Gothenburg
died Feb. 15, 2007, at Grove, OK. Services: Feb. 23, at 
the Lighthouse Foursquare Church at North Platte. 
Burial will be at Fort McPherson National Cemetery 
with military honors. Born to Henry and Lyle Shanks 
Hardnock on Nov. 24, 1931. Preceded in death by: 
his parents, Henry and Lyle; a great grandson, Steven 
Robert Schoel.

Evelyn I. WALTER, 78, of Cozad, died Feb. 21, 2007.
Services were held on Feb. 26, at the Berryman Funeral 
Home Chapel at Cozad. Burial was at the Cozad Cemetery.
Born on June 1, 1928, in Frontier Co., NE to Elmer and Ida 
Seybold Maret. Preceded in death by: her husband, Harvey 
in 2004; a brother, Merle; three sisters—Dorothy, Agnes, 
and Eunice; son-in-law, Larry Meester.

Kenneth Roy EELLS, 85, of Center, TX, formerly of Gothenburg
died Feb. 21, 2007, at a Longview, TX, hospital. Services were 
held Feb. 25, at Watson and Sons Chapel at Center. Graveside 
services were held on Feb. 26, at Center Hill Cemetery at Oakhurst, TX.
Born Feb. 25, 1921, at Gothenburg, to Roy J. Eells and Hala Granger Eells.

Margaret Adelina POWER, 91, long time resident of North Platte, died 
Feb. 20, 2007. Christian wake services were held on Feb. 23, at Adams 
& Swanson Chapel. Mass of Christian burial was held Feb. 24, at 
St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Born on June 6, 1915, at Farnam, to 
Martin and Antje (Annie Folkers) Titchen. Preceded her in death by: 
her parents; her husband, Edward; sons—Kenneth and Ronald; a 
daughter, Patricia (Ronald) Swanson; grandchildren—Ronda and 
Timothy Swanson and Anthony Kelly.
