Tri-City Tribune Feb 2007 Victor HAUG, 89 of Cozad, Nebraska, died Feb. 7, 2007. Born Jan. 19, 1918, near Cozad to August and Clara Hueftle Haug. Graduated from Cozad High School. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II. On August 26, 1945, he married Genevieve Freeland in Denver, Colorado. Preceded in death by four sisters, Viola Seybold, Lillian Slothower, Leona Laier and Mary Lester; a brother, Lloyd Haug; and a granddaughter, Sarah Wilke. Services were held Feb. 10, 2007, at the First United Methodist Church in Cozad. Burial was in the Cozad Cemetery with military honors. Calvin F. SNIDER, 76, of Elwood, Nebraska, formerly of Overton and Lexington, Nebraska, died Feb. 8, 2007. Born July 22, 1930 in Kearney, Nebraska, to Hugh and Laura (Siebert) Snider. In Sept. 1958, he married Janet Smith. She preceded him in death on June 20, 2002. Preceded in death by his parents; wife, Janet; and brother Floyd. Services were held Feb. 10, 2007 at the First Christian Church in Overton. Inurnment was in the Greenwood Cemetery in Lexington. Ruby E. GERDES, 94, of Gothenburg died Feb. 10, 2007. Born July 14, 1912, near Gothenburg to William and Tena (Ostendorf) Gerdes. She was the first of five children. Taught at District 2 North Willow Island School. Graduate of the Kearney State Teachers College in Kearney, Nebraska. Preceded in death by her parents; a brother, William Gerdes; and a sister, Norma Jean Gerdes. Funeral services were held on Feb, 13, 2007 at the American Lutheran Church in Gothenburg. Burial took place at the Grandview Cemetery near Gothenburg. Vera B. SLABY, 93, of Lexington died Feb. 11, 2007 in Kearney, Nebraska. Born July 24, 1913, at Elsie, Nebraska, to Edward R. and Mary Frances (Smith) McGuire. Preceded in death, besides by her husband, by her parents, and one sister, Ruby. Graveside service: February 17, 2007, at 1 p.m. at Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery in Lincoln, Nebraska. Vera F. BATT, 87, of Lexington died Feb. 11, 2007. Born Oct. 12, 1919 at Angora, Nebraska, to Carl Wesley and Etta (Cunningham) Nichols. Marriage to George Batt. Preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and two sisters. Funeral services: Feb. 17, 2007 at Calvary Assembly of God Church in Lexington. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington. Marvel H. LANDERCASPER, 107, long-time resident of Lexington died Feb. 12, 2007. Born June 29, 1899, near Creston, Iowa, to Alfred R. and Medora (Pierce) Hayden. Moved with her family to Nebraska in the spring of 1907, in a covered wagon and buggy. Marriage to Henry Herman Landercasper on Dec. 31, 1915, at the Landercasper family farm 12 miles northwest of Lexington. Preceded in death, besides by her husband, by her parents; one daughter, Zaida Kraus in 1995; two great-grandsons; and one great-great-grandson. Funeral services: Feb. 16, 2007 at Buffalo Grove Presbyterian Church northwest of Lexington. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington. John Lee HATTING, 74, of Stromsburg, Nebraska, died Jan. 30, 2007. Born May 9, 1932, on the farm south of Lexington to William and Emma (Foss) Hatting. Married Jane Dugan of Lincoln, Nebraska, on Oct. 2, 1971 at Lexington. Preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Doris Walker and Lucille Burr Ritterbush; and three brothers-in-law, Allen Walker, Gordon Burr and Ron Ritterbush. His body was cremated. Memorial service: Feb. 24, 2007, at 2 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington. Inurnment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington. Lola ROBERTSON, 72 of Cozad, Nebraska, died Feb. 14, 2007. Born January 7, 1935, in Gosper County to Ralph and Hope McGraw Hanson. In 1952, she married Norm Robertson at Raton, New Mexico. They later divorced. Preceded in death by a daughter, Kim; three sisters, Thelma, LaRae and Norma; and a brother, Doyle. Services: Feb. 16, 2007, at the Berryman Funeral Home Chapel in Cozad. Burial was in the Cozad Cemetery. John WENBURG, 93, died Feb. 14, 2007, at his home in Cozad, Nebraska. Born Dec. 19, 1913, at Oconto, Nebraska, to John and Hilma Linden Wenburg. Served in the U. S. Army during World War II. On Feb. 14, 1948, he married Clara Beyen. Preceded in death by his wife in 1981; a sister, Maude Buckley; and three brothers, Harold, Raymond and Floyd. Services: Feb. 17, 2007, at the Berryman Funeral Home Chapel in Cozad. Burial was in the Cozad Cemetery. Geraldine Estella SLACK, 90, a resident of the Brady community since 1953, passed away on Feb. 15, 2007. Born at Hastings, Nebraska, on Dec. 22, 1916, to Bert and Violet (Rothrock) VanMeter. In 1933 she married Selwyn Slack. She later married the late William Slack, Jr. who preceded her in death on Aug. 20, 1982. Preceded in death by her husband William; a daughter, Mary Ann Slack; three brothers, William VanMeter, Victor VanMeter, Gerald VanMeter; and one sister, Betty VanMeter. Funeral services were held on Feb. 20, 2007 at the American Lutheran Church, Gothenburg. Burial was in the Gothenburg Cemetery. Ronald RITTERBUSH, 65 of Cozad, Nebraska, died Feb. 15, 2007. Born Sept. 24, 1941, at Columbus, Nebraska, to Ronald and Rosalie Schumacher Ritterbush. He graduated from Cozad High School in 1959 and from Kearney State Teachers College in 1963. On May 23, 1964, he married Barbara Minnick at Kearney, Nebraska. Preceded in death by his parents; and an infant daughter, Mary. Mass of the Christian burial was held Feb. 19, 2007, at Christ the King Catholic Church. Burial was in the Cozad Cemetery. Lloyd William GENGENBACH, 82, of Brady, Nebraska, died on Feb. 15, 2007 at Gothenburg, Nebraska. Born to William F. "Bill" and Martha (Hueftle) Gengenbach on September 25, 1924, in Eustis, Nebraska. On April 19, 1952 he married Delores Gamble in Sterling, Colorado. Preceded in death by his parents and one sister Laura. Services: Feb. 21, 2007 at the American Lutheran Church, Gothenburg. Burial of the cremains will be held at a later date at Floral Lawn Cemetery, North Platte, Nebraska. Charles Brule BULLOCK, 89, of Cozad, Nebraska, died Feb. 16, 2007. Born Aug. 10, 1917, in Cozad to Earl and Ica Bullock. Marriage to Helen May Hammond on Feb. 1, 1941, in Lexington, Nebraska. Served in the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1945 during WWII. His wife died on Mar. 17, 1981. Preceded in death by his parents; wife; and two brothers, Glen and Ernie. Survived by his son, Terry Bullock and wife, Vicki of Cozad; three grandchildren and one great-grandson; nieces and nephews; and many friends. Services: McLaughlin Funeral Home in Clay Center, Nebraska. Burial was in the Edgar Cemetery, Edgar, Nebraska. Andrew 'Andy' SCHROEDER, 57, of Elm Creek, Nebraska, died Feb. 17, 2007, at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. Born on Nov. 16, 1949, the son of Edward P. and Iva (Parks) Schroeder in Kearney, Nebraska. On Dec. 11, 1966, he married Vickie L. Muirhead in Elm Creek.
