Wahoo News Feb 2007 SUPERIOR - Donald L. GRUWELL, 73, of Superior, died Feb. 10, 2007 at his home in Superior. Born March 28, 1933, to Raymond and Louise (Hecht) Gruwell at Naponee.Marriage to Barbara Zematis on Oct. 3, 1951 at Franklin. His parents, two brothers, Herb and Merlin Gruwell and one sister, Delna Chisholm, preceded him in death. Funeral services were held Feb. 14 at the Megrue-Price Funeral Home Chapel in Superior. Interment was at the Naponee Cemetery at Naponee. WAHOO - Irene M. KORESKY, 91, of Wahoo, died Feb. 5, 2007. Born Jan. 10, 1916, to Melford and Lottie (Lakin) Young at Plainview. Married Thurman Koresky on Mar. 18, 1932 in Neligh. They farmed for 25 years in Lancaster County, Sargeant Bluffs, Iowa, and Cambridge. Her husband, twin sister, Ilene Russell, sisters, Opal Sherwood and Lillian Giles, brother, Ercell Rush, and two infant grandsons preceded her in death. Interment was at Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery. VALPARAISO - Robert C. LINDHOLM, 90, of Valparaiso, died Feb. 11 in Lincoln. Born Sept. 4, 1916, to Charley and Mary (Hedges) Lindholm in Ceresco. He was a Staff Sergeant for the U. S. A. F. and fought in WW II. His parents, a grandchild, Ashley Baker, brothers, Delbert and Percy, and sisters, Helen, Berniece, Anna, Ruth, Alta and Lily, preceded him in death. Funeral service was held Feb. 14 at Roper and Sons Chapel. WAHOO - Clara A. JOHNSON-NELSON, 100, of Wahoo, died Feb. 12, 2007. Born April 5, 1906, to Christian and Alice (Anderson) Lindquist in Swedeburg. In 1937, she married Rudie Johnson. Rudie passed away in 1960. In 1964 she married Al Nelson and they lived in Wahoo until his death in 1979. Interment: Feb. 15 at Sunrise Cemetery in Wahoo. LINCOLN - Vivian Coral NELSON, 97, of Lincoln, died Feb.10, 2007. Born on March 9, 1909, to John and Grace (Larson) Johnson in Mead. Preceded in death by her husband, Irvin Nelson; her parents; and a brother, Virgil Johnson. Funeral services: Feb. 15 at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, in Lincoln. Graveside services: at Morningside Cemetery in Mead. WAHOO - Rosalie G. NOHA, 87, of Wahoo died Feb. 11, 2007 in Lincoln. Born on Jan. 16, 1920, to Frank and Sophie (Nesladek) Sloup at Prague, the second of five children. On Nov. 27, 1947, she married Louis E. Noha of Wahoo at St. Johns Church in Prague. Her husband, a son, Kenneth Noha, and brothers, Milton and Frank Sloup, preceded her in death. Mass of Christian Burial: Feb. 17, 2007. at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Wahoo. Interment will be at St. Francis Cemetery in Wahoo GULFPORT, Miss. - Eldon "Al" POLACEK, 74, of Gulfport, Miss., formerly of Bruno, died Jan. 21 in Biloxi, Miss. Born to Adolph F. and Beatrice Polacek in Bruno. He served four years in the USAF in the Far East. His father; his first wife, Alleyne; and a daughter, Kathy Jo MacMillan, preceded him in death. Services were held Jan. 26 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Gulfport. Burial will be held later at St. Anthony's Cemetery at Bruno. VALENTINE - Martha Ellen SCHIFFERN, 59, of Valentine, died Feb. 6, 2007. Born Aug. 27, 1947, to Charlie and Gladys (Morrow) Schiffern in Valentine. Her parents preceded her in death. Funeral services were held Feb. 10 at the Presbyterian Church in Valentine. Burial was at Mount Hope Cemetery. ST. EDWARD - Emil D. WILHELM, age 86 of St. Edward, formerly of Cedar Bluffs, died Feb. 6 in Omaha. Born on April 20, 1920 to Rudolph and Viola (Wilson) Wilhelm at Hubbel. On Nov. 26, 1950 he married Grace Ingwerson at Prairie Home. His parents, a son, Dean Wilhelm, and sister, Mildred Wilhelm, preceded him in death. Funeral services were held Feb. 10 at the Pruss-Nabity Funeral Home. WAHOO - Ruby Mae BERANEK, 92, of Wahoo, formerly of Ithaca, died Feb. 13 in Wahoo. Born March 7, 1914, to James and Mae (Hale) Fouts at Valley. Married Harry Beranek on May 7, 1932 in Omaha. He preceded her in death 63 years later on Sept. 10, 1995. Preceded in death by her husband, one brother and one sister. Funeral services were held Feb. 17 at the First United Methodist Church in Wahoo. Interment was at Sunrise Cemetery in Wahoo. WAHOO - Betty Virginia PATZLOFF, 79, of Wahoo, died Feb. 18 in Lincoln. Born Nov. 11, 1927, to Everett and Irma (Kirkpatrick) Davis in Malmo. Married Ernest H. Patzloff Jr. (Patz) in Wahoo on Jan. 18, 1946. Preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister, Imogene Holliday, brothers, Delmar and Michael Davis, brothers-in-law, Max Kliment and Ken Wright. Funeral services: Feb. 23 at First Congregational Church. Interment at Sunrise Cemetery. NICKERSON - Harris F. "Pete" VOGT, 78, of Nickerson, died Feb. 16, 2007 in Omaha. Born April 12, 1928, to John and Anna (Stork) Vogt at Arlington. Served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. On July 27, 1958 he married Alice Meyer at St. Paul's Lutheran Church at Arlington. His parents, a son, John Vogt, brother, Ernest Vogt and three sisters, Ruth Vogt, Helen Sperling and Ann Marie Lottman, preceded him in death. Funeral services were held Feb. 21 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church near Arlington. Burial was at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery with military honors conducted by members of American Legion Post 71 and VFW Post 8332 of Arlington. DAVID CITY - Joseph J. VRBKA, 95, of David City, died Feb. 16, 2007. Born Oct. 4, 1911 to Edward and Mary Ann (Krenk) Vrbka near Weston. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II. On Dec. 30, 1940 he married Rose Polacek at St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church in Bruno. His parents, an infant son, Donald Vrbka, three brothers and six sisters, preceded him in death. Funeral services were held Feb. 19 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Ulysses. Burial was at St. Mary's Cemetery in Ulysses. WAHOO - Raymond L. "Ringo" SYVERSON, 80, of Wahoo, died Feb. 20, 2007. Born Nov. 27, 1926 to Albert and Selma (Larson) Syverson at Colon. Married Lorraine Eberhardt on Oct. 12, 1949 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Wahoo. Preceded in death by his parents, sister, Irene Trost, brothers, Ralph and Don Syverson, niece, Karen Frahm, and nephew, Charles Trost. Funeral services were Feb. 24, 2007 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Interment was at Sunrise Cemetery with Military Funeral Honors conducted by Wahoo V.F.W. Post 4502 and Wahoo American Legion Post 82. Pruss-Nabity Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. WAHOO - Susan K. PRUESS, 49, of Wahoo died Feb. 25, 2007 in Fremont. Born on Oct. 4, 1957 to Alfred and Jeanette (Schroeder) Pruess in Wahoo. Preceded in death by her mother, Jeanette Pruess and a brother, Alan Pruess. Her father, Alfred Pruess of Wahoo; aunts, uncles and nine cousins survive her. Funeral service: Feb. 28 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Wahoo. Interment at Flower Hill Cemetery near Bennington.
