Jacqueline Ann Burt HENKEL, 75, of San Diego died Jan. 19, 2007, at home 
following a courageous lifelong battle with heart disease. Born June 27, 1931, 
in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to Kenneth and Bea Burt.Married Paul Andrew Henkel 
on May 26, 1951, in Fremont. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Saint 
Brigid Catholic Church, 4735 Cass St., San Diego.

John E. “Ted” KORVES, 94, of Yankton, S.D., formerly of Fremont, died 
Jan. 21, 2007. Preceded in death by a sister. The funeral will be 2 p.m. 
Thursday at Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton. Burial will be in 
Garden of Memories Cemetery in Yankton.

The Rev. Leo KREIKEMEIER, 88, of West Point died Jan. 23, 2007.
Arrangements are pending at Stokely Funeral Home in West Point.

The funeral for Joe H. PETERS, 59, of rural Scribner will be 10:30 a.m. 
Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont. He died Jan. 22, 2007
in North Bend. Born Feb. 6, 1947, in Omaha to Joseph H. and Ruth (Volk) 
Peters Sr. He was a 1965 graduate of South Omaha High School. Served in 
the U.S. Army, in the Korean War and the Vietnam War. Married Pat Larson 
on April 2, 1983. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery 
in Charter Oak, Iowa. Military honors will be rendered by the Homer Hall 
American Legion Post 66 of Charter Oak.

The funeral for Bertha A. SAMUELSON, 101, of West Point will be 
10:30 a.m. Friday at Grace Lutheran Church in West Point.
She died Jan. 23, 2007. Born Feb. 25, 1905, in West Point to F. William 
and Elise “Lizzie” Pates. She grew up on a farm. She married Arvid J. 
Samuelson on Jan. 3, 1923, in Omaha. Her husband preceded her in 
death Jan. 6, 1962. Also was preceded in death by three sisters, six 
brothers, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Burial will 
be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

The funeral for Stuart D. SUMNER, 76, of Fremont will be 11 a.m. 
Friday at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. He died Jan. 23, 2007.
Born April 7, 1930, in North Bend to Frank and Althea (Purcell) Sumner. 
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Married Ella M. Hansen 
on Oct. 8, 1950, in Fremont. She died Jan. 24, 2005. He also was preceded 
in death by a brother and five sisters. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery 
in Fremont with military graveside services conducted by the Fremont 
Honor Guard of VFW Post 854 and American Legion Post 20.

John W. HANSON, 64, of Rapid City, S.D., formerly of Norfolk, died Feb. 1, 2007
in Omaha. Born Oct. 8, 1942, in Minot, N.D. to John O. and Lena P. (Herr) Hanson. 
He married Leanna Christensen on Aug. 17, 1968, in Spearfish, S.D.
Preceded in death by: his father, John O. Hanson; and a brother Thom Hanson.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Norfolk. 
Burial will be 11 a.m. Feb. 7, 2007, at Rose Hill Cemetery in Spearfish, S.D.

The prayer service for O'Dessa May HUBER, 89, of Oakland will be 6:30 p.m. 
Jan. 3, 2007 at Pelan Funeral Services Oakland Chapel in Oakland.
She died Feb. 1, 2007 in Oakland. Born Oct. 9, 1917, in Baltimore to Henry 
Stromberg and Ada Bell (Taylor). She married Frank J. Huber on July 20, 1935
in Baltimore City, Md. Preceded in death by her husband, a son, an infant 
son and a grandson. Burial will be in Moreland Memorial Park Cemetery in 
Parkville, Md.

Virginia (Podraza) PETERSON, 82, of Fremont died Feb. 1, 2007.
Born Sept. 12, 1924, in Duncan to John and Adelaide (Jarecki) Podraza. 
Married Russell Peterson on Feb. 12, 1956, in Omaha. Preceded in death 
by her husband. Her body was donated to the University of Nebraska 
Medical Center. Memorial service: Feb. 3, 2007 at The Presbyterian 
Church in Fremont. 

Rhonda Diane SMOTHERS, 41, of Fremont died Feb. 2, 2007, at her home.
Born Jan. 24, 1966, in Kankakee, Ill., to Harry Ray and Jessie Mae (Lile) 
Smothers. Preceded in death by her parents and a son. The funeral will 
be 10:30 a.m. Feb. 5, 2007 at Johnston Funeral Home in Ina, Ill. 
Burial will be in Fitzgerrell Cemetery in Ina. 

Geraldine VODEHNAL, 78, of Clarkson died Feb. 1, 2007.
The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Feb. 6, 2007  at Sts. Cyril and Methodius 
Catholic Church in Clarkson. Burial will be in Clarkson Catholic Cemetery.
Miller Funeral Home of Clarkson in charge of arrangements.
