Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Park in Scottsbluff. Born May 19, 1931 at Bridgeport to Jacob and Katherine (Pfenning) Huber. She was the ninth of nine children. Married Tom Blum on April 25, 1952, at the Zion Evangelical Church (Faith United Church of Christ) in Bayard. Tom died in 1978 at the age of 47. Preceded in death by her parents; husband: Tom; sisters: Lydia Harimon, Mary Wickman, and Catherine Michal; and brothers: Bill, Jake, and John Huber. GERING - Cheryl Ann BOOTH, 59, of Gering died Dec. 29, 2006 in Scottsbluff. Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Jan. 6 at the First United Methodist Church in Gering. Born on Nov. 8, 1947 in Scottsbluff to Melvin L. and Dorothy E. Brown. She graduated from Gering High School in 1966. Married Michael Olson-Jones in 1970 in Gering. They moved to Spokane, Wash. where they had a son, Michael Forrester Olson-Jones. Cheri returned to Gering and later married William "Willy" Booth. They later divorced. SCOTTSBLUFF - Pauline Kaufman HOOPMAN, 86, of Scottsbluff died Dec. 30, 2006. Funeral service was held Jan. 3 at St. James Lutheran Church in Scottsbluff. Interment will be at West Lawn Cemetery. Born on Oct. 5, 1920 in Minatare to George and Marie (Peil) Drumheller. She married Alexander Kaufman on April 14, 1939 in Scottsbluff. She farmed with her sons after the death of her husband Alex in July of 1960. Preceded in death by her parents; husband: Alex; four brothers; two sisters; and three grandsons. MITCHELL - Lucille Margaret LARSON, 72, died Dec. 29, 2006. Her funeral service was held Jan. 3 at the First Baptist Church in Scottsbluff. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Park. Born on Dec. 29, 1934 at Stapleton, Neb. to Joseph and Mary (Moran) Main. She married John Larson on Jan. 8, 1951 and resided in North Platte. They divorced in 1964. Preceded in death by her parents, son, two sisters, and two brothers. GERING - Susie E. OLSON, 94 of Gering, died Dec. 28, 2006. Funeral services were held Jan. 2 at Gering Memorial Chapel. Interment was in West Lawn Cemetery. Born on July 14, 1912 in Lynch, Neb. to Bert and Mamie (Kirwin) McCright. Married Larry Olson on Nov. 1, 1932 in Burke, S.D. Preceded in death by her husband; nine brothers and sisters; daughter: Elaine Kloppenborg; and great-grandson: Shawn Olson MINATARE - Janice Laree BECKER, 68, of Minatare, died Dec. 21, 2006 in Scottsbluff. Funeral services were held Dec. 27 2006 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Scottsbluff. Interment was in West Lawn Cemetery in Gering. Born May 18, 1938 in Melbeta, to John Arthur and Etta Myrtle (Bartow) Parmenter. Married Richard Becker May 5, 1961 in Julesburg, Colo. Preceded in death by her parents. SCOTTSBLUFF - Eunice H. (Griess) HOFMANN, 91, of Scottsbluff, died Dec. 21, 2006. A celebration of her life was held at the Residency on Dec. 26. Cremation was held at Sunset Memorial Park Crematory. Burial was in Sutton, Neb. Born Sept. 19, 1915 to Richard and Henrietta (Nuss) Griess in Clay County, Neb. Married Hilmer Hofmann from Sutton on Feb. 14, 1937. Preceded in death by her parents, husband Hilmer, and four brothers. GERING - Fern KOENIG, 93, of Gering, died Dec. 18, 2006. Her funeral service was held Dec. 23. at Gering Memorial Chapel. Interment was at West Lawn Cemetery. Born on May 15, 1913 to Henry and Bertha Jane (Snocker) Henglefelt in a small country home in the Rockwood Community of Hitchcock, S.D. At age five, she moved with her parents and brother to Nebraska to the Haig Community of Mitchell Valley, where she lived for 60 years. Married Edgar Frank Koenig on Feb. 16, 1933 in the parsonage of the Christian Church. Preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother and sister-in-law: Eldon and Alma Henglefelt. GERING - Mickale Gene SPENCER, 62, of Gering, died Dec. 25, 2006 in Scottsbluff. In keeping with his wishes, his remains were cremated at the Jolliffe Funeral Home Crematory in Scottsbluff. A Memorial Service will be held for Mickale later in the spring. Born Mar. 18, 1944 in Scottsbluff, the son of Gene and Bernadine (Kelly) Spencer. He served in the U. S. Marine Corps during the Cuban Missile Crisis and two tours of duty in Vietnam. Married Ginny Amen Jan. 10, 1964 in Scottsbluff. His parents preceded him in death. GERING - Juanita V. CASTILLO, 85, of Gering, died Dec. 23, 2006 in Kearney. A funeral mass was held 10:30 a.m., Dec. 28, 2006, at Christ the King Catholic Church in Gering. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff. Born June 2, 1921, at Beeville, Texas to Arturo and Teresa (Garcia) Valls. She married Agustin Castillo Aug. 14, 1943, in Webb County, Texas. Preceded in death by her parents; her husband; daughter: Mary; son: Paul; and sister: Emma Martinez. SCOTTSBLUFF - A memorial service for Ruth F. THOMPSON, 93, of Scottsbluff, will be held at 10 a.m., Dec. 30, at WestWay Christian Church in Scottsbluff. Interment has taken place at Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff. She died on Dec. 19, 2006. Born as Florence Ruth Robinson in Wellsville, Ohio, on Feb. 12, 1913, and was the youngest of Anna Mae and Abraham Lincoln Robinson's six children. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband and six children. SCOTTSBLUFF - Beverly Jo ASA, 70 died peacefully at her home on Dec. 22, 2006. Funeral services were held Dec. 27 at the Calvary Memorial E-Free Church in Gering. Burial was at the Forest Lawn Cemetery near Morrill. Born Aug. 22, 1936 in Morrill to Alton and Grace (Hauptman) Asa. She was diagnosed with ALS in 2005. Her parents; two sisters: Shirley Lee and Mary Ann preceded her in death. SCOTTSBLUFF - William M. "Mike" GABLE, 59, of Scottsbluff, died Jan. 1, 2007. Funeral services were held Jan. 6 at the Gering Zion Church. The Nebraska National Guard will provide military honors. Cremation will follow the services at the Jolliffe Funeral Home Crematory. B. June 3, 1947, in Scottsbluff to William H. and Mary Ann (Outson) Gable. Entered the U. S. Army and served from Mar 16, 1966 to Mar 4, 1968 serving a 13-month tour of duty in Vietnam. On May 26, 1968, he married Florence E. Aden in Scottsbluff. Preceded in death by his grandparents: Howard (Pop) and Mary Outson, and Ted and Lillian Gable; and fathers-in-law: Carrol C. Aden and Earl F. Schlangen. SCOTTSBLUFF - Harold Dean WONDERCHECK, 77, of Scottsbluff, died Dec. 28, 2006. At the time he was living at Sunset Manor in Brush, Colo. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Jan. 11, 2007, at Gering Baptist Church. Born Feb. 15, 1929, at Atkinson, Neb. to John and Ethel (Karr) Wondercheck. Married Leslie Garvin on April 5, 1947, in South Dakota, later repeating their vows on Sept. 13, 1950, in Harrisburg. Preceded in death by his parents; two baby sisters; grandson: Michael Wondercheck; sister-in-law: Elinior; and brothers-in-law: Jim Kearney and Jim Sichen. GERING - Shirley Ann (McDonald) BROWN THUNDER, 73, of Gering, died Jan. 4, 2007. Funeral services were held Jan. 8 at the Jolliffe Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Mitchell Cemetery. Born Nov. 6, 1933, on the YBO Ranch near Chugwater, Wyo., to Lyle and Maxine (Earl) Jenkins, she was the eldest of 13 children. Married Robert S. McDonald of Houston, Texas and to this union five sons were born. Preceding her in death were her parents; son: Ron McDonald; three brothers: an infant and Ed and Earl Jenkins; and sister: Mary Grabel. MITCHELL - Carolyn Jo GROSKOPF, 66, died Jan. 1, 2007, at her home with her family by her side. Memorial services were held Jan. 5 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Morrill. At her request, cremation was done at Jolliffe Funeral Home Crematory in Scottsbluff. Born Aug. 17, 1940, in Fremont, Neb. to John and Theil (Seebeck) Legband. Married Melvin Groskopf in 1959. Preceding her in death were her parents; sister: Bonnie (Flock) Schmer; and infant brother: Johnny Legband. MINATARE - Randy Alan BERNHARDT, 51, of Minatare, died Jan. 1, 2007. At his request, cremation was held at Sunset Memorial Park Crematory in Scottsbluff. A memorial service was held Jan. 6, at Northfield Assembly of God Church in Gering. Born Aug. 18, 1955, in Scottsbluff to Victor and Eleanor (Brening) Bernhardt. His parents and baby brother Eddie preceded him in death. SCOTTSBLUFF - "Marshal" Jim KINNEY, 65, of Scottsbluff, died on Jan. 3, 2007. Memorial service was held Jan. 8 at Cleansing Flame Worship Center in Gering. He was cremated according to his wishes at Sunset Memorial Park Crematory, Scottsbluff. Born Mar. 9, 1941, in Scottsbluff to Ted and Iva (Elwood) Kinney of Minatare. On Jan. 28, 1962, he married Mary Helen McKnight. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother: Lyle; and an infant sister. GERING - Lawrence L. "Toby" NATION, 90, of Gering, died Jan. 3, 2007. A memorial service was held Jan. 7 at Heritage Estates Chapel in Gering. Cremation was at Sunset Memorial Park Crematory in Scottsbluff. Born Aug. 13, 1916, in Warren, Okla. to Henry and Vina (Bailey) Nation. Served in the U. S. Navy from 1942 to 1945. He married Byrna Lou Hutchinson in 1943. They had two children. They later divorced. In 1979, he married Myrtle (Mitchell) Clements. Preceded in death by his parents; and son: Danny Nation. HEMINGFORD - Karen L. SMITH, 51, died Jan. 15, 2007. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 19, at the Hemingford Congregational Church. Inurnment will be in the Hemingford Cemetery. Born Feb. 25, 1955, in Alliance to Charles O. and Mary E. (Cook) Smith. Her mother, great-nephew O'Ryan Matthew and grandparents preceded her in death. MITCHELL - Fusako KAKUDA, 80, died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2007, at her home.
