On June 22, 1938, she married James Robert Anderly at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Brainard. They lived on a farm by Dwight and later moved to Schuyler, David City and Valparaiso. Preceded in death by her husband James on June 22, 1995, two brothers and six sisters. Funeral services were Dec. 29 at Sts. Mary and Joseph Catholic Church in Valparaiso. Gretchen Kirk Imig ENGEL, 94, Lake San Marcos, Calif., died Dec. 8, 2006. Born Aug. 8, 1912, to Seldon and Mary Etna Kirk. Preceded in death by her husbands, Jacob H. Imig and Robert Engel; brother, Gail Kirk; and sister, Gladys Kirk Henningsen. A memorial service will be held in Seward in the spring of 2007. Reuben J. KEMPER, 91, Seward, died Jan. 5, 2007, in Seward. Born Jan. 7, 1915, to Benjamin and Emilie (Koehler) Kemper near Crete. On May 24, 1938, he married Eileen Anderson in Los Angeles, Calif. Served in the U.S. Navy in World War II and the Korean conflict. Preceded in death by his wife, Eileen Kemper. Funeral services were Jan. 9 at Volzke Funeral Home Chapel, Seward. Interment with a military grave side service was at West Blue Church Cemetery, Milford. Dr. Edwin G. LAWRENCE, 75, Seward, died Dec. 27, 2006. Played violin with the SIU Symphony, Belleville Philharmonic Orchestra, Kirkwood Symphony and Clayton Symphony. Preceded in death by his parents, George and Esther (Lang) Lawrence; infant brother, Armin Lawrence; and brother-in-law, William Wolf. Funeral services were Jan. 3 at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, Seward and Jan. 6 at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, Edwardsville, Ill. Interment was at the St. Andrew's Cemetery, Edwardsville. Tricia Kay LEHMAN, 40, Longmont, Colo., formerly Loveland, Colo., died Dec. 26, 2006, at Cameron Pass in Larimer County, Colo. Born July 22, 1966, to Darrel and L. Carol (Slepicka) Eberspacher in Seward. On Nov. 23, 1990, she married Steve Lehman in Lincoln. Preceded in death by her parents-in-law, Sam and Marilyn Lehman; brother-in-law, Randy Lehman; and grandparents, Alfred Slepicka and Elmer and Esther Eberspacher. Born Aug. 13, 1907, to Mike and Mary (Hlavac) Sypal near Dwight. On Jan. 17, 1927, she married Joe E. Novak in Dwight. Preceded in death by her husband, Joe Novak; son-in-law, Cyril Nemec; brother and sister-in-law, Al and Aggie Sypal; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lillie and Ted Svoboda and Tillie and Rudy Svoboda; and great-grandson, Cameron Brecka. SWANSON, 89, Seward, formerly Staplehurst, died Dec. 27, 2006, in Seward. Born Nov. 20, 1917, to Henry and Alwine (Barghahn) Fehlhafer near Staplehurst. On June 30, 1943, she married Marcus Swanson in Marysville. Marcus died in 1979. Preceded in death by her husband, Marcus Swanson; and brothers, Melvin and Walter Fehlhafer. Born Dec. 30, 1918, to Elijah and Ida (Hilton) Embry. Preceded in death by her husband, Homer Eberspacher; two brothers; and a sister. Funeral services were Jan. 23 at Community Funeral Home, Guthrie, Okla. Interment was at Memory Gardens Memorial Park, Guthrie, Okla. Mildred (Smid) URBANEK, 81, Dwight, died Jan. 16, 2007, in Seward. Born Oct. 15, 1925, to William and Mary (Dolezal) Smid near Bruno. On June 6, 1946, she married Adolph Joseph Urbanek in Bruno. Preceded in death by her husband, Adolph Urbanek, in 1974; son-in-law, James Sabata; sisters-in-law, Lori Smid and Louise Urbanek; and brother-in-law, Ernie Sklenar. Funeral services were Jan. 20 at Assumption Catholic Church, Dwight. Interment was at Assumption Catholic Church Cemetery, Dwight. Rose Mary WOOD, 88, Seward, died Jan. 21, 2007, in Seward. Born Nov. 23, 1918, to Paul and Mary Marie (Reinmiller) Wood northwest of Staplehurst. She taught at Harvard, Scotia, Burwell and Kimball high schools. Preceded in death by her sister, Lorene Wood; and brothers and sister-in-law, Irving and Rosie Wood, Alvin Wood and Lawrence Wood. Survivors include nieces and nephews.
