Milford Karl Franz MAHNKE died Dec. 30, 2006, at the age of 91. 
Services were Jan. 2, 2007 at St. John's Lutheran Church, rural 
Lyons. Burial was in the Oakland Cemetery, Oakland.
Pelan Funeral Services, Oakland, was in charge of 
arrangements.

Paul John UHING, 72, of West Point, died Dec. 30, 2006 in Lyons. 
Mass of Christian burial is Jan. 4, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's 
Catholic Church, West Point. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Stokely Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

William F. KAUP, 87, of West Point died Dec. 28, 2006. 
Funeral services were Dec. 30, 2006, at St. Mary's Catholic 
Church, West Point. Burial at St. Michael's Cemetery.

Funeral services for Rozella Tietjen KOWAL, 79, of West Point were 
Jan. 3, 2007, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in West Point. Cremation 
will follow the services with burial in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery, 
rural Wisner at a later date. She died Dec. 31, 2006. Survivors 
include her husband, Dr. Frank J. Kowal of West Point; sister, 
Lavina Falke of Schuyler; nephews and niece.

Ladeta O. DOERNEMAN, 60, of Wisner, died Jan. 1, 2007
in West Point. Mass of Christian burial will be Jan. 5, 2007 at 
10:30 a.m. at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Aloys. 
Burial will be in the Church Cemetery. 

Fred P. HEIN, 89, of West Point died Dec. 27, 2006, in 
Sun City, Ariz. Funeral services were Jan. 2, 2007, at St. Paul 
Lutheran Church, West Point. Burial, with graveside military 
honors, was at Mt. Hope Cemetery, West Point.

Vera A. KAUP, 99, of West Point, died Jan. 1, 2007.
A memorial Mass will be 10:30 a.m., Jan. 6, 2007, at 
St. Mary's Catholic Church in West Point. Burial will be at 
St. Michael's Cemetery. 

Memorial visitation for Robert NIELSEN, 71 of West Point 
Jan. 11, 2007, from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. at the Kuzelka-Minnick 
Funeral Home in West Point. Burial will be at a later date. 
He died on Jan. 7, 2007, at Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha.
Survivors include his brother Don and Sarah Nielsen of West Point; 
a sister, Elaine Kinnett of Eugene, Ore.; and several nieces and nephews.
Kuzelka-Minnick Funeral Home in West Point is in charge of arrangements.

Dale SIEBRANDT, 70, died Dec. 29, 2006, at his home in Omaha. 
Funeral services were Jan. 2, 2007, at John A. Gentleman Mortuary 
Chapel. Military graveside services were at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Casper M. ORTMEIER, 89, died Jan. 3, 2007, at his home in Fremont. 
A funeral Mass was held Jan. 6, 2007, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church 
in Fremont. Burial was at Calvary Cemetery, Fremont. 

Madelyn COOK - A memorial service was held Jan. 3, 2007, at 
Zion Lutheran Church in Bethalto, Ill., for Madelyn COOK, infant 
daughter of Pastor Kevin and Kristi Cook of West Point.

Marita B. JANECEK, 79, Dodge, died Jan. 3, 2007 in Dodge. 
Funeral services were Jan. 6, 2007, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic 
Church, Dodge with burial in the church cemetery. Humlicek Funeral 
Home, Dodge, was in charge of arrangements.

Sylvia Hannah DARLING died on Jan. 6, 2007, in Oakland, at 
the age of 92. A memorial service was held Jan. 10, 2007, at 
First United Methodist Church in Oakland with burial in the 
Oakland Cemetery, Oakland. Preceded in death by her 
parents; her husband, John and her brother, Gene Stenberg.

Bertha SAMUELSON, 101, died Jan. 23, 2007. Funeral services:
Jan. 26, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church. Burial 
will be at Mount Hope Cemetery. 

Lorraine GEARHART, 76, died at her home in Lodi, Calif., on 
Jan. 16, 2007. Funeral services were Monday, Jan. 22, 2007
at Chapel of the Chimes Memorial Park and Funeral 
Home, Hayward, Calif. Survivors include her husband, Lowell, 
children, Denise and Dan Pagan of Hayward, Calif., Michael 
Gearhart of Escalon, Calif., and Debbie and Frank DeFreitas 
of San Leandro, Calif.; nine grandchildren and seven siblings.
Chapel of the Chimes was in charge of arrangements.

Funeral services for Vernon H. GODBERSEN age 80 of Winside, 
were Jan. 20, 2007, at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Wayne. 
Burial was at the Mt. Auburn Cemetery at Millard. He died 
Jan. 16, 2007 in Norfolk. Kuzelka-Minnick Funeral Home was 
in charge of arrangements.

Funeral services for Irene GOEBEL, Fremont, were Jan. 24, 2007
at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Burial at Calvary 
Cemetery, Fremont. Irene died Jan. 20, 2007. Moser Memorial 
Chapel of Fremont was in charge of arrangements.

Richard Allen BURGER, 65, of West Point died Jan. 19, 2007. 
Funeral services were Jan. 22, 2007, at Stokely Funeral Home 
Chapel. Burial in the Beemer Cemetery. Survivors include his 
wife, Marie, of West Point; step son, Harilos (Monica) Gurntke; 
and step daughter, Tanja Nasa; brother, John "Jim" (Norma) 
of Scribner and 12 grandchildren. Stokely Funeral Home was 
in charge of arrangements.

Bertha Amelia SAMUELSON, 101, of West Point, died Jan. 23, 2007l. 
Funeral services: Jan. 26, 2007, at Grace Lutheran Church. 
Burial at Mount Hope Cemetery. 

Marie M. KASTNER, 84 years, LaVista, died Jan. 29, 2007, at her 
home in LaVista. Services: Feb. 2, 2007, at 11 a.m. at West Center 
Chapel in Omaha.  Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Randy 
and Donna Davis, Sr. of West Point; one grandson and one granddaughter; 
and brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Dorothy Koch of Omaha.

Rev. Leo A. KREIKEMEIER, 88, of West Point, died Jan. 23, 2007. 
Mass of Christian burial: Jan. 27, 2007, at St. Boniface Catholic 
Church at Monterey, west of West Point. Burial was in the 
church cemetery. Survivors include a sister, Bernadine and 
Eugene Pieper of Gary, S.D.; brother, John B. and Virginia 
Kreikemeier of West Point; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Stokely Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Richard L. (Dub) RALL, 79, died Jan. 27, 2007 in Fremont. 
Funeral services: Jan. 30, 2007, at First Congregational Church, 
UCC of Fremont. Burial in Memorial Cemetery, Fremont. Military 
graveside services were by the Fremont Honor Guard of VFW 
Post #854 and American Legion Post #20.

Hazel HASENKAMP died on Jan. 25, 2007 at her daughter's 
residence in Omaha. Funeral services: Jan. 30, 2007, at 
St. John's Lutheran Church in Beemer. Peceded in death by her 
parents; husband,Willard of 53 years; siblings, Paul Nelson, Ella 
Jackson, Zoda Matison, Della Kennedy, Audrey Brown, Florence 
Nellor, Dorothy Conrad, Gaylord Nelson; two brothers in infancy; 
two sons-in-law, Max Waltermeyer and John Nelson and one 
great-grandchild.

Verna KOREN, 88, died Jan. 23, 2007 in Carroll, Iowa. 
Sharp Funeral Home Services, Carroll, Iowa was in charge 
of arrangements.

Daniel Lucas FLOWERS, 75, died at Lodi, Calif. on Jan. 3, 2007. 
Born July 9, 1931, in Lincoln to John and Mary Flowers.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Bernice (Ritter) Flowers, 
formerly of West Point; three sisters, Mary Lou Perkins of 
Wisconsin, Lola Jean Easton of Nebraska and Ruth N. Pallesen 
of Nevada. Rocha's Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

Cecilia A. (Fiese) ZEPLIN, 97, of Pender, died on Jan. 28, 2007. 
Funeral services: Feb. 1, 2007, at 2 p.m. at St. Mark's Lutheran 
Church. Interment will be in St. Mark's Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Survivors include a daughter, Edine and Lester Vogt of Pender; a 
son, William and Eileen Zeplin of Barrington, Ill.; son-in-law, Lee 
Engelbart of Denver, Colo.; 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren 
and two great-great-grandchildren.

Carol Ann BRESTER, 57, of Dodge, died Jan. 27, 2007l in Omaha. 
A private funeral Mass was held with burial at St. Wenceslaus 
Cemetery, Dodge. Survivors include her husband, Dave, of Dodge; 
daughters, Rhonda Brester of Omaha and Renee and Chad Bayer 
of Howells; brothers, Michael and Cheryl Vacha of Hooper and 
Roger and Carol Vacha of Scribner; mother-in-law, Milada 
Brester of Dodge and 3 granddaughters.
