Gering Courier July 2007 GERING - A funeral mass for Mary Ann PIEPER, 73, of Gering, who died July 13, 2007 in Scottsbluff, was held July 17 at the St. Agnes Catholic Church in Scottsbluff. Interment was at the Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff. Born July 28, 1933, at Wauwatosa, Wis., to Alfred W. and Elizabeth (Kupecky) Ecks. Married Harold M. Pieper on Aug. 18, 1956, at Wauwatosa, Wis. They moved to Gering in 1996. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother: Jim Ecks. GERING - Marcelo "Johnny Moon" RAMIREZ, 72, of Gering, died July 13, 2007 at Scottsbluff, NE. Mass of Christian Burial held July 19 at All Souls Catholic Church in Bridgeport, NE. Interment will be in Oregon Trail Memorial Cemetery at Bridgeport. Born Jan. 16, 1935, at San Luispotosi, S.L.P., Mexico, the son of Francisco and Felipa (Jacobo) Ramirez. Marriage to Clara Tovar in Nov of 1956 at San Luispotosi, S.L.P., Mexico. He migrated to the United States in 1969. He did farm work before going to work for the BNSF railroad in 1978. His parents, wife, and two sons preceded him in death. SCOTTSBLUFF - Jean Margaret HAAS, 79, of Scottsbluff, died July 14, 2007. Funeral was July 18 at the First United Methodist Church in Scottsbluff. A graveside service was held, July 20, at the Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars, Iowa. Born May 9, 1928 in Le Mars, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence and Edith (Walker) Langendorfer. She graduated from the Le Mars High School with the Class of 1946. Marriage to Donald F. Haas, Dec. 16, 1950 in Le Mars. Her parents preceded her in death. MINATARE - Earl H. AIKENS, 63, of Minatare, died, July 13, 2007 at home with his wife at his side. A memorial service was held July 17 at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff. Military honors by the Nebraska National Guard. Cremation was at Sunset Memorial Park Crematory in Scottsbluff. Born Jan. 4, 1944, at Detroit, Michigan to Harold and Jessie (Marshall) Aikens. Served in the U. S. Army from 1962 to 1963. On Sept. 4, 1982, he married Gertrude Jimenez at Kimball. Preceded in death by his parents; and brothers: Joseph Aikens, Robert Morton, Jon Morton, and LeRoy Aikens. SCOTTSBLUFF - Wesley GOMPERT, 81, died on July 4, 2007. Cremation was at Sunset Memorial Park Crematory in Scottsbluff. A memorial graveside service will be held at a later date. Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel and Cremation Services in Scottsbluff is in charge of the arrangements. Born June 19, 1926, to Gerhard and Florence (Rice) Gompert. Married Emma Decker. Preceded in death by his wife: Emma; his parents; his brother: Larry; a son-in-law; and one grandson. GERING - Evelyn I. GINGRICH, 73 of Gering died, July 9, 2007. Funeral service held July 13, 2007 at Calvary Memorial Evangelical Free Church in Gering. Burial will be at West Lawn Cemetery. Born on Mar 27, 1934, the daughter of Edgar "Lee" and Wilhelmina (Meidlinger) Speer in Broadwater. Marriage to Gary S. Gingrich on May 29, 1952 in Bayard. Preceded in death by her husband; parents; sisters: Helen Covalt, Ethel Fetters, Wilma Downing, and Eunice Krause; and brothers: Joe Speer, Lawrence Speer, and Roy Speer. DENVER, Colo. - Joan Jenson WITTENWYLER, 68, of Denver, Colo. passed away on June 27, 2007 at her home after a short battle with cancer. She donated her organs and her body to science. Born Oct. 3, 1938 to Charlie and Irene (Rumbeck) Jenson of Banner County, NE. Survived by her husband Tom and son Grant, both of Denver; sister: Carole Tucker of Gering; brother: Dean of Dallas, Ore.; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her father: Charlie Jenson in 1973; and mother: Irene in 1986. MINATARE - Garnet "Tuddy" KOESTER died, July 5, 2007, after a long illness. Memorial service held July 15, 2007, at the American Legion in Commerce City, Colo.
