Howard FISCHER, 84, of Fremont died Mar. 5, 2007 in Fremont.

Annette Smith FRIEND, 76, of Hastings died Feb. 28, 2007, 
at her home in Hastings. Funeral service was at St. Cecilia's 
Catholic Church. Burial was in Parkview Cemetery in Hastings.
Butler-Volland Funeral Home in Hastings was in charge of 
arrangements.

Walter Lee “Salty” JOHNSON, 69, of North Platte died 
Mar. 4, 2007, at his home in North Platte. Born Sept. 29, 1937
in Weiser, Idaho, to Herman Albert and Dorothy Elizabeth Owen 
Johnson. Joined the U.S. Navy in Aug. 1956. Walt and Nina 
were married in 1968. Preceded in death by his parents and 
a brother, John Johnson. Cremation was chosen. A memorial 
graveside service Mar. 5, 2007 at Fort McPherson National 
Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the North 
Platte Veterans' Honor Guard.

The funeral for John A. KRUMEL, 81, of Fremont will be 10 a.m. 
Mar. 9, 2007 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Fremont.
He died Mar. 5, 2007. Born June 14, 1925, in Prague to John 
and Christine (Nemec) Krumel. Married Sylvia Odvody on 
Sept. 28, 1949, in Wahoo. She preceded him in death 
Sept. 10, 1991. He also was preceded in death by his 
parents; two brothers, Carl and Al Krumel; and two 
sisters, Irene Zakovec and Marie Wright. Burial will be 
in Calvary Cemetery in Fremont.

The funeral for Edward “Ed” W. NEMECEK Sr., 82, of Wahoo 
will be 10 a.m. Mar. 8, 2007 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic 
Church in Wahoo. He died Friday, Mar. 2, 2007, in Wahoo.
Born July 21, 1924, in Wahoo to Vennie and Bessie (Mach) 
Nemecek Sr. He graduated from Wahoo High School in 1942. 
Served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Persian Gulf 
and the Pacific Theater. He married Catherine “Katie” Hobza on 
Aug. 20, 1947, in Wahoo. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery 
with military rites by Wahoo VFW Post 4502 and 
American Legion Post 82.

Joseph “Joe” BOHAC, 94, of Wahoo died Mar 13, 2007.
He was born Mar 17, 1912, in rural Plasi to Jon and Marie (Zmeck) 
Bohac. He attended school at District 90 Crowder School, west of Touhy. 
Married Stacie Dvorak on Nov. 22, 1938, in Dwight. Preceded in death by 
a son-in-law, six sisters and a brother. Funeral: Mar 16, 2007 at 
St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Wahoo. Burial will be in 
St. Francis Cemetery in Wahoo.

Verna A. BRAND, 96, of Fremont died Mar 15, 2007.
Arrangements are pending at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont.

The memorial service for William R. “Bill” BRIDGMAN, 67, of Fremont, 
formerly of Cedar Bluffs, will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian 
Church in Cedar Bluffs. He died Tuesday, March 6, 2007, at his home.
Born Dec. 6, 1939, in Hooper to Dwight and Edna (Appel) Bridgman. 
Survivors include: two brothers, Leonard (and wife, Carol) Bridgman 
of Belleville, Kan., and Lee (and wife, Mardel) Bridgman of Omaha; 
and a sister, Phyllis (and husband, Gordon) Eichmeier of Fremont.
Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.

The funeral for Maude E. “Maudie” GLASS, 82, of Omaha, formerly 
of Fremont, at Christ United Methodist Church in Schuyler on Mar 17, 2007.
She died Mar 13, 2007. Born Dec. 1, 1924, in Johnson to Leonard and Blanche 
(Mort) Seckman. The family later moved to Schuyler. Married Donald L. Gless 
on Feb. 10, 1944, in Schuyler. Preceded in death by three brothers-in-law.
Burial will be in Schuyler Cemetery.

Jane M. McGAHEY, 67, of Fremont died Mar 14, 2007, at her home.
Born Dec. 25, 1939, in West Point. She was adopted by Henry and 
Marie (Westphalen) Schnoor. Married Richard D. “Dick” McGahey on 
Mar 8, 1959, in Fremont. Preceded in death by her twin sister. Burial 
will be in Memorial Cemetery 
in Fremont. 

Gladys M. REIMERS, 85, of West Point died Mar 14, 2007.
Born June 19, 1921, in West Point to John and Pauline Poledna Benne. 
Married Melvin Reimers on June 19, 1940. Her husband preceded her 
in death in Sept. 1974. Also was preceded in death by two brothers, 
two sisters and a son-in-law. Funeral: Mar 17, 2007 at Grace Lutheran 
Church in West Point. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Marie A. STEFFENSMEIER, 85, of West Point, formerly of Dodge, died 
Mar 14, 2007. Born Feb. 3, 1922, in Monterey to Joseph Knuever and 
Elizabeth Ermels Throener Knueverl. On Sept. 25, 1945, married Anton 
Steffensmeier. Preceded in death by two sons, four brothers, a sister 
and two sisters-in-law. Funeral: Mar 17, 2007 at St. Wenceslaus 
Catholic Church in Dodge. Burial will be in St. Wenceslaus Cemetery.

Mabel FREITAG, 93, of Fremont died Mar 11, 2007 in Scribner.
Born May 26, 1913, in Mohegan, W.V., to George and Martha (Porter) 
Janney. She was one of 12 children in the family. After her marriage to 
Stephen M. Sexton, the couple lived in Wyoming. After his death, she 
married Bertram Freitag. He also preceded her in death. She also was 
preceded in death by a daughter and nine sisters and brothers.
No local services are planned. A graveside service will be held Mar 24 
at Greenhill Cemetery in Laramie, Wyo.

Ronald L. HAVELKA, 53, of Malmo died Mar 15, 2007 in Wahoo.
Born Feb. 20, 1954, in Wahoo to Stanley and Sophie (Stritecky) Havelka. 
Married Beth Hayes on Oct. 4, 1980, in Oakland. Survivors include: his 
wife, Beth; a daughter, Cassie; and his mother, Sophie Havelka, all 
of Malmo. Preceded in death by his father. Funeral: Mar 19, 2007 at 
First Presbyterian Church in Wahoo. Burial will be in Killian Cemetery 
in Morse Bluff.

Mamie RUFF, 96, of Fremont died Mar 16, 2007.

Corinne J. SCHEER, 71, of Fremont died Mar 16, 2007.

The funeral for Walter J. DAVENPORT, 80, of Fremont will be 10:30 a.m. 
Mar 28, 2007 at the Church of the Nazarene in Fremont. He died 
March 25, 2007. Born April 21, 1926, in Jackson to John and Ella (McClanahan) 
Davenport. Preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Grace Dunn; and two 
child siblings. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery in Fremont.

The funeral for Willis W. FAUX, 72, of Fremont will be Mar 31, 2007 at 
Lattin-Dugan-Chambers Funeral Chapel in Fremont. He died Mar 29, 2007
at his home. Born Sept. 30, 1934, in Winterset, Iowa, where he was raised. 
Was in the U. S. Air Force where he received the Distinguished Flying Cross 
for his service as a pilot in Korea. Married Betty Stienike Hatt on Mar 17, 1973
in Omaha. 

Jean JESSEN, 72, of Fremont died Mar 28, 2007. The funeral will be Apr 2, 2007 
at First Baptist Church in Fremont. Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont in charge. 
Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.

Ronald G. SMITH, 65, of rural Hooper died Mar 29, 2007, at his home.
Arrangements are pending at Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont.
