FRIEND - Ronald Hickman BULLOCK, 76, of Friend, died at his home on Sept. 8, 2007. Born July 25, 1931, to Francis Hickman and Alta Hazel (Sronce) Bullock at Columbus. She graduated from Colome High School and got her teaching degree at Mitchell College in Mitchell, S.D. Marriage to Stanley A. Havelka on May 24, 1952 at Czech Presbyterian Church at Weston. Her parents, her husband, her son, Ronald L. Havelka and a brother, John Stritecky, precede her in death. Funeral service was held Sept. 10, 2007 at Svoboda Funeral Home in Wahoo. Interment was at Killian Cemetery at Morse Bluff. WAHOO - John "Warren" JOHNSON, 81, of Wahoo, formerly of Mead, died Sept. 1, 2007. Born on Sept. 1, 1926, to Henry and Bessie (Weatherbee) Johnson at Mead. He was drafted into the U. S. Army on Nov. 5, 1945 and served in France, Russia and Germany during WWII until Dec. 6, 1946. Married Deloris Steel on June 4, 1949 in Schuyler. His parents, his wife, and an infant daughter, Debbie Kay Johnson, preceded him in death. In 1936 she married Herbert Oberle, and they made their home on a farm south of Eagle for over 55 years. Her husband, Herbert in 1991, brother, Lyle in 1992, preceded her in death. Burial was at Eagle Cemetery. CEDAR BLUFFS - Lowell E. RANSLEM, 74, of Cedar Bluffs, died Sept. 6, 2007 at his home. Born on Nov. 30, 1932 to Earl and Anita (Jones) Ranslem in Cedar Bluffs. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. On Oct. 28, 1954 he married Fern McCauley in Cedar Bluffs. His parents preceded him in death. She graduated from Grand Island High School in 1944. Married Lloyd Townsend on July 25, 1946 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Grand Island. Her parents, and a brother, Earle Spiehs, preceded her in death. As a child the family moved to San Diego, CA. After her mother's death, the family returned to Nebraska and resided in Wahoo. Married Dan Brownell. The marriage ended in divorce. During the war she worked in New York City. After the war she married Emmett Vint. They had one son, Michael, who died shortly after birth. Graveside services were held Sept. 5, 2007 in Omaha with burial at West Lawn Cemetery. WESTON - Arthur Harold BURGE Jr., 72, of Weston, died Sept. 6 in Omaha. She received her jurist doctorate from Marshall Wythe Law School at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Va. in 1992. Preceded in death by her grandparents, Robert and Muriel Frahm of Morrill and Harry and Vivian Farmer of Ashland.
