Imperial Republican Sept 2007 Victor Herman HOFMAN was born July 7, 1923, on the family farm near McCook, Neb. to Henry and Dorothea (Wall) Hofman, the youngest of 17 children. Entered The U.S. Navy on Mar 14, 1944, and served in the Philippines during WWII. Returned to the McCook area, where he married Eleanor Marie Church on Mar 28, 1947. He died, Sept. 1, 2007 in Omaha, Neb. He was 85 years of age. Preceded in death by his parents, wife Eleanor, son Merlyn, six brothers and seven sisters. Funeral services were held Sept. 4, 2007 at the Berean Fundamental Church of Imperial, Neb. Interment followed at Mount Hope Cemetery, Imperial. Larry W. ALLEY born Aug. 25, 1938 in Omaha, Neb. died on Aug. 24, 2007. Preceding him in death are his parents, Harold and Ruth Alley and stepfather, Fred Reno. Services Aug. 30, 2007 at 1 p.m. at Mountain View Memorial Gardens in Mesa, Ariz. Clifford Charles HANCOCK was born on Dec. 21, 1918 in Champion, Neb. His parents were James Royal Hancock and Flossie Viola Fulk-Hancock. His grandparents were Benjamin and Annie Creed-Fulk and Charles and Cynthia Jennie Applegate-Hancock. He was in The U. S. Army's 18th Engr Medic Det Stationed in The Aleutian Islands in WWll. He passed away in Seattle, Wash. Henry GEMAEHLICH, 90, of Sterling, Colo. died Sept. 19, 2007. Born Oct. 21, 1916, to Fritz and Anna (Suchsland) Gemaehlich in Burdette. Married Amanda Kullman and later Daisy Oltjenbruns. Preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Bill and Herman Gemaehlich; sisters, Barbara Klinzaman, Margret Muchow, Alvina Dunker, Agnes Johnson, Annie Steele and Emma Busing; and first wife, Amanda Gemaehlich. Services were held Sept. 24, 2007 at the First English Lutheran Church. Burial was at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 24 at the Holyoke Cemetery. Raymond Hill HARGREAVES, age 87, of Holyoke, Colo., died Sept. 17, 2007. Born Sept. 17, 1920 to John and Arpy (Bone) Hargreaves 5 1/2 miles south of Holyoke on the family farm. Drafted into the service and spent four years in the U. S. Navy during World War II. Erma Stinnette and Raymond married on May 11, 1947 and this union was blessed with one child, Dola Hargreaves. Preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dr. Charles Hargreaves and wife, Jeannette, and sister-in-law, Betty Hargreaves. Helen Gertrude Dunbar MILLER was born Jan. 18, 1914, near Tuscola, Ill., to Claude O. and Maude A. (Evans) Dunbar. Married Wilfred H.N. Miller. To this union three children were born: Murlena, Wilfred N. (Bill) and Delvis. Helen died Sept. 23, 2007. She was 93 years of age. Preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, one sister, two grandsons and one great grandson. Funeral services held Sept. 27, 2007, at the First United Methodist Church of Imperial. Interment at Mount Hope Cemetery, Imperial. Robert G. CHRISTENSEN, 82, of Sterling, Colo. died Sept. 19, 2007, in Sterling. Born Sept. 28, 1925, to Carl Jacob and Della (Frese) Christensen in Bennett Co., S.D. On July 7, 1945, he married Jacqueline Samuelson in Hamilton City, Calif. Preceded in death by his father, Carl J. Christensen; mother, Della Christensen; and sister, Edna Thompson. Private family services will be held. There was cremation. Arr. were made by Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Timothy Jay LONG was born Jan. 21, 1951, at Grant, Neb., to Marion and Alberta (Parde) Long, the fourth child of five children. He died Sept. 30, 2007 in Imperial. He was 56 years of age. Preceded in death by brother, Jim Long; sister, Linda Hawkins; grandparents, Arnold and Louise Bartels and Haskell and Hazel Long. Graveside services were held Oct. 3 at 2 p.m. at Riverside Cemetery, Wauneta. Pamela Elizabeth CEDERBURG was the third child of seven children born to John Allen Hogeland, Jr. and Edith Lily (Schofield) Hogeland on Dec. 18, 1948 at Holdrege, Neb. She died Sept. 30, 2007 in Kearney, Neb. She was 58 years, nine months and 12 days. She & James Cederburg. married on June 8, 1975. Preceded in death by her father, John A. Hogeland, Jr. on Feb. 4, 2006. Funeral services held Oct. 4, 2007 at the United Methodist Church, Alma, Neb. Interment will follow at the Alma Cemetery. Helen Silvester PITTS was born on Feb 15, 1921 in Imperial, Neb. to Frank and Hattie Silvester. She died on August 21, 2007 at age of 86. Married John Pitts on Feb. 4, 1946. Preceded in death by her son Jack, four brothers and her parents. Services were held Aug. 24 at Mt. View Community Church in Denver, Colo. Interment at Crown Hill Cemetery. Wynona Aldena HAMEL of Denver, Colo., formerly of Imperial, Neb., died Sept. 29, 2007. Survivors include daughters, Deanna Espinoza, Nancy Bressler and Peni Aronson; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and sister, Trudy Nelson of McCook. Services held Oct. 5, 2007, at Olinger Highland Mortuary, Thornton, Colo. Dorothy STATZ, lpassed away Sept. 28, 2007, in Tucson, Ariz. She was 88 years of age. Graveside inurnment services will be held Oct. 9, 10 a.m., at Mount Hope Cemetery. Liewer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Rachel Clara HAARBERG was born Jan. 28, 1918 to Martin and Mary Roschewski in Beatrice, Neb. Her parents were born in Germany. She came to Chase Co., NE when she was young to help her sister, Louise, with her twins and family. There she met Herman (Pete) Haarberg and they were married on May 19, 1935. Rachel died on Oct. 2, 2007. Preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Jerry, and seven brothers and sisters. Funeral services held Oct. 6, 2007, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Imperial. Interment will be at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in rural Wauneta. Richard Harry THOMPSON was born the second child of five children to Glen John Henry Thompson and Mrs. Barbara Elisha (Sparks) Thompson on Nov. 21, 1936 near Grainton, in Lincoln Co., Neb. He died Sept. 27, 2007 in Holdrege, Neb. He was 70 years, 10 months and six days. On Feb. 26, 1960 Richard Harry Thompson married Miss Sharon Kay Myers at the Methodist Church in Imperial, Neb. To this union three children were born, a daughter, Kristi Kay and twin sons, Richard Kent and Douglas Kirt. Preceded in death by his mother in Sept 1961; his father in Nov 1997; and his brother, James Thompson, in 1993. Services were held at the Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Holdrege on Oct. 1, 2007. Interment was held at the Riverside Cemetery, Wauneta, Oct. 1. at 2:30 p.m. . LaVon SCHOLL, 77, of Holyoke, Colo. died Sept. 29, 2007. She was born in Benkelman, Neb. Feb. 1, 1930 to Louis and Flossie Waterman. Funeral services were conducted Oct. 2, 2007 at First Baptist Church in Holyoke, Colo. There was a private family interment at Holyoke Memorial Park.
