He served in the U. S. Navy from 1942 to 1945. Married Edith Gustafson on July 29, 1945 at the Gustafson family farm in Ithaca. Preceded in death by his parents; four great-grandparents, Peter W. Born Nov. 13, 1935, to Edward F. and Anna M. (Oborny) Humlicek Sr. in Columbus. She taught school in Sutton, Abie, Plasi, 1R in Colfax County and in Howells Community Catholic Schools. Married Dennis Dostal on Sept. 7, 1965 at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Abie. Preceded in death by her parents; two grandchildren, Shelby Lynn and Austin Tyler Wordekemper; a brother, Adolph Humlicek; and a sister, Ann Voboril. Robert Leon Grell was born in Millard on Mar 18, 1934 to Christopher and Marie Dorothy (Voss) Grell. Preceded in death by wife, Connie M. Grell; parents; and sisters, Jeanne Randazzo and Inez Khuen. There were no services. ASHLAND - Ida M. HOLLING, 92, of Ashland died on April 3, 2008. Ida M. Holling was born in Ashland on May 21, 1915 to Reinhold and Hulda (Hapke) Schuelke. On Nov. 5, 1938, married Henry R. Holling at Kountze Memorial Lutheran Church in Omaha. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Henry Holling; three brothers and seven sisters. Born in 1918 to Peter and Hilder A. (Freberg) Nelson in rural Swedeburg. He later moved to Idaho, finally making his home in Utah in 1958. He married Gunnell Heine in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1960. Preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Mildred Nelson, Lenore Hagstrom and Bernice Nelson; brothers, Roland Nelson and Wallace Nelson; and a sister-in-law, Ruth Nelson. Married Lora Jensen in Des Moines, Iowa on Nov. 28, 1940. Served in the U S Army for two years during WWII. Preceded in death by his parents, a son, Bobby; brother, Cloyce; grandchildren, Lisa Jo Headlee and Jeffery Steven Nungesser; and daughter-in-law, Jeanette Nungesser. Military graveside honors will be conducted by Head-Andrews American Legion Post 265. FREMONT - Donald E. ROOT, 75, of Fremont died at his home on April 8, 2008. Donald E. Root was born on July 10, 1932 in Ashland to Leslie and Ida (Owen) Root. He grew up in Ashland and graduated from Ashland High School. He married Margaret Norton on July 30, 1953 in Fairfax, Mo. He was a drummer in the First Nebraska Volunteer Civil War Band, a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 200 and the American Legion Drum and Bugle Corps in Lincoln. Preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Vernon, Floyd, Melvin and Theodore; four sisters, Evelyn Cunningham, Phyllis Anderson, Opal Schnake and Dorothy Holz; half sister, Daisey Haney. D. and Rosalie (Kliment) Haba in Rescue. On Aug. 24, 1936, she married William C. Dauel in Ithaca. They farmed four miles east of Prague and following the death of her husband, she moved to Malmo. Her parents, her husband, two sisters, Rosie Tomek and Christina Haba and brothers-in-law, Emil Tomek and Ed Kucera, preceded her in death. BRABEC, 58, of Fremont, died April 18, 2008 in Omaha. Born June 2, 1949 to Charles J. and Wilma (Prchal) Brabec in Omaha. He served in the U. S. Army 1969 - 1972 and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal. Married Cheryl Bartek on Sept. 27, 1968 in Weston. The couple later divorced. His parents and an infant sister, Christina, preceded him in death. Memorial service was held April 22 at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont, NE. YUTAN - Irvin Leon HELDT, 81, of Yutan, died April 20, 2008 in Omaha. Heldt was born on Nov. 9, 1926, to Otto and Lena Heldt on the family farm south of Yutan. He served in WWII as an MP stationed in Italy. He married Lois Jordan on Jan. 16, 1949 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Yutan, NE.
