OAKLAND, Neb. -- Dewaine R. GAHAN, 58, of Oakland died Jan. 31, 2008, at his home.
Services at Oakland-Craig School Gymnasium in Oakland. Burial in Swaburg Cemetery, 
rural Hooper, Neb. 

WINNEBAGO, Neb. -- Ralph R. POLLY, 67, of rural Winnebago died Feb. 1, 2008.
Services at Salem Lutheran Church, rural Dakota City. Burial in Taylor Cemetery. 
Born Aug. 20, 1940, in Asheville, N.C., the son of Henry and Robinette A. (Eble) 
Polly. He married Julie L. Stocker on Dec. 11, 1966, in Salem Lutheran Church, 
rural Dakota City. Preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Lance.

HARTINGTON, Neb. -- Rudolph F. "Rudy" ARENS, 89, of Hartington died Feb. 1, 2008.
Services at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Hartington. Burial in St. Michael's Cemetery, 
Hartington. 

CONCORD, Neb. -- Irene HANSON, 84, of Concord died Feb. 3, 2008, in Wayne, Neb.
Services at United Methodist Church in Allen, Neb. Burial will be in Concord Cemetery. 
Ida Irene Hanson was born Oct. 11, 1923, in Elmo, Mo., to Roy Mack and Fern Adela 
(Riley) Livengood. She married Richard J. "Dick" Hanson on Dec. 13, 1951 in Sioux City. 
Preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Alice Calendar and Phyllis Helder; a 
daughter, Anita; a son, Mark; a nephew, Scott Nelson; a niece, Kathy Moore; and 
in-laws, Kay Livengood, Earl Moore, Earl Nelson and Richard Claus.

SHELDON, Iowa -- Anita SUNN, 58, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2008, in Sheldon 
following a brief illness. Services at the Ho-Chunk Center in Winnebago, Neb.
Burial will be in Winnebago Cemetery. Arr. are under the direction of the 
Winnebago Wake and Burial Program. Born May 31, 1949 in Winnebago. 
Preceded in death by her parents, George and Louisa (Ricehill) Sunn Sr.; 
and brothers, George Jr., Clarence Sun and James Sun Sr.

LYONS, Neb. -- Alpha Marie FREY, 99, of Lyons died Feb. 5, 2008.
Services at First Presbyterian Church in Lyons. Burial in Lyons Cemetery. 

DECATUR, Neb. -- Claire E. MARYOTT, 94, of Decatur died Feb.7, 2008 
in Onawa, Iowa. Services at United Methodist Church in Decatur. Burial in 
Hillcrest Cemetery.  

WAKEFIELD, Neb. -- Della C. MATTES, 89, of Wakefield died Feb. 7, 2008 in 
Wayne, Neb. Services at St. John's Lutheran Church in Wakefield. Burial in 
Wakefield Cemetery. Della was born in Wakefield on April 3, 1918, to William 
and Ella (Test) Thomsen. On Dec. 30, 1945, married to Joseph P. "Joe" Mattes 
at St. John's Lutheran Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her 
brothers, Martin, Laurence and Harold; and a sister, Frances Brinkman. 

WINNEBAGO, Neb. -- Mary L. WHITEBEAVER of Winnebago died Feb. 7, 2008, at 
Winnebago I.H.S. following a lengthy illness. Services at Ho-Chunk Community 
Center in Winnebago. Burial will be in Winnebago Cemetery. Arr. are under the 
direction of Winnebago Wake and Burial Program. Mary L. Whitebeaver was born 
May 26, 1929, in Winnebago. Preceded in death by a daughter, Renee Brown; two 
sons, Arnold Brown and Kenny Brown Jr.; two brothers, Reuben and Charles 
Whitebeaver; two sisters, May and Joyce Whitebeaver; and her parents, Charles 
and Agnes Whitebeaver.

Richard D. "Rick" ELLETT Sr., 50, of Sioux City passed away Feb. 14, 2008, at 
his residence. Services at the Community of Christ Church. Arr. by Waterbury 
Funeral Service. Rick was born in Omaha, Neb., on Dec. 29, 1957, the son of 
Clyde and Anna (Nielsen) Ellett. Nov. 1989, married Jackie Yacevich. They were 
divorced in Jan of 2002. Preceded in death by his father. 

SOUTH SIOUX CITY -- Carrol Dean BERG, 78, of South Sioux City died, Feb. 17, 2008.
Memorial services at First Presbyterian Church in South Sioux City. Graveside services 
in Lyons City Cemetery, Lyons, Neb. Born June 2, 1929, in Rosalie, Neb., the son of 
Roy and Daisy (Reilly) Berg. He graduated from Winnebago High School. He served in 
the U.S. Army as a corporal and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. Married 
Etta J. Park. Preceded in death by his parents; and an infant 
brother, Joseph Royal Berg.

SOUTH SIOUX CITY -- Robert LaVerne "Beaver" PELKEY, 76, of South Sioux City died 
Feb. 17, 2008 following a lengthy illness. Services at the Ho-Chunk Center in 
Winnebago, Neb. Burial in Winnebago Cemetery. Arrangements are under the 
direction of Winnebago Wake and Burial Program. Born Mar 6, 1931, in Winnebago. 
He served in the U.S. Coast Guard. Survivors include a brother, J. Pelkey of 
Albuquerque, N.M.; two sisters, Sandra Pelkey Goodteacher of Sioux City and 
Joyce Pelkey of Topeka, Kan.; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death 
by his parents, Alex and Ruby Pelkey; and brothers, James and LeRoy Pelkey Sr.

Lloyd A. MARTINSEN, 80, of Sioux City died, Feb. 16, 2008, at a Sioux City 
hospital surrounded by his family. Services at Concordia Lutheran Church. 
Graveside services will be at a later date. Born Oct. 31, 1927, in rural 
Ponca, Neb., the son of Gabe and Bertha (Wendte) Martinsen. Married 
Edna Davis on Mar 30, 1951, in Dakota City. Preceded in death by his 
parents; a sister, Lois Harder; and two brothers, Elmer and 
Clarence Martinsen.

SOUTH SIOUX CITY -- Walter Gerald "Jerry" OEHLERKING, formerly of South 
Sioux City passed away Feb. 12, 2008, at Las Vegas, Nev. Memorial services 
will be held at a later date in National Military Cemetery, Point Loma, San Diego, CA.
Jerry was born to Walter and Margaret "Peg" Oehlerking on April 23, 1933. Joined the 
U.S. Marine Corps and made that his life's work. He spent tours of duty in Korea and 
Vietnam. He married Fumiko Takie in Japan. She preceded him in death in 1993. 
Preceded in death by a son, James; his parents; a brother, William; a nephew, Greg 
Kading; and a grandniece, Nicole Campbell.

Mary Magdeline WOODS, 41, of Sioux City died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2008. 
Services at the Ho-Chunk Center in Winnebago, Neb. Graveside services 
Feb 21, 2008 in Winnebago Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction 
of Winnebago Wake and Burial Program. 

Margaret E. KIPPER, 98, of Sioux City died Wed., Feb. 20, 2008.
Services Feb 22, 2008 at Morningside Assembly of God Church. 
Burial will be in Omaha Valley Cemetery, rural Homer, Neb. 
Born Feb. 21, 1909, in Plainview, Neb., the daughter of Sanford and 
Ada J. (Chamberlain) Packard. She married Lewis F. Kipper on May 6, 1934
in Homer, Neb. Lewis, died Feb. 20, 1987 in Sioux City.Survivors include her 
nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by two brothers; and four sisters.

Verba P. ANDERSON, 83, of Sioux City, formerly of Carroll, Iowa, passed away 
Feb. 24, 2008, at a Sioux City hospital. Services at Calvary Lutheran Church. 
Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of 
Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel. Verba Pauline Thompson was born April 4, 1924, 
to Edward and Elenora (Kristoffersen) Thompson in Creighton, Neb. June 14, 1947, 
she and William L. Anderson were married at First Lutheran Church in Omaha. 
Preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William in 2006 after 59 years 
of marriage; four sisters, Mary, Ruby, Lydia and Josephine; two brothers, Clifford 
and Melvin; two nephews, Jerry and Michael Mortensen; two sisters-in-law; and 
six brothers-in-law.
