He served in the U.S. Army as a corporal and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. Married Etta J. Park. Preceded in death by his parents; and an infant brother, Joseph Royal Berg. SOUTH SIOUX CITY -- Walter Gerald "Jerry" OEHLERKING, formerly of South Sioux City passed away Feb. 12, 2008, at Las Vegas, Nev. Memorial services will be held at a later date in National Military Cemetery, Point Loma, San Diego, CA. Jerry was born to Walter and Margaret "Peg" Oehlerking on April 23, 1933. Joined the U.S. Marine Corps and made that his life's work. He spent tours of duty in Korea and Vietnam. He married Fumiko Takie in Japan. She preceded him in death in 1993. Preceded in death by a son, James; his parents; a brother, William; a nephew, Greg Kading; and a grandniece, Nicole Campbell. Mary Magdeline WOODS, 41, of Sioux City died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2008. Lewis, died Feb. 20, 1987 in Sioux City.Survivors include her nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by two brothers; and four sisters. Verba P. ANDERSON, 83, of Sioux City, formerly of Carroll, Iowa, passed away Feb. 24, 2008, at a Sioux City hospital. Services at Calvary Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel. Verba Pauline Thompson was born April 4, 1924, to Edward and Elenora (Kristoffersen) Thompson in Creighton, Neb. June 14, 1947, she and William L. Anderson were married at First Lutheran Church in Omaha.
