Polk Co. News Jan 2008 Regina M. CERNY, 85, of Grand Island formerly of Osceola and Central City died on Jan 4, 2008, at the Nebraska Veteran’s Home in Grand Island. Funeral services were held Jan 9, 2008 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Central City. Interment will be at a later date in the Osceola Cemetery. Solt Funeral Home of Central City was in charge of the arrangements. Preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and four brothers – Anthony, Raymond, Richard, and Leonard Iwan. Christopher J. RUDLOFF, age 23, passed away in Philadelphia, PA on Dec 20, 2007 from complications of acute respiratory distress syndrome. Preceded in death by his grandparents Walter B. James, Jr. and Bette J. Rudloff. Services were held Dec 28, 2008 at St. Leo Catholic Church in Omaha. Virginia M. MONSON, age 85, of Osceola, Nebraska, passed away Dec 24, 2007 in Lincoln, Nebraska. Funeral services were held Dec 27, 2007 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Osceola. Interment was in the Osceola Cemetery. Dubas Funeral Home of Stromsburg and Osceola was in charge of arrangements. Preceded in death by an infant son Wayne; one sister Evelyn Anderson; and two brothers, Richard and Melburn Anderson. Joseph J. REISDORFF, age 72, of David City, passed away Dec 24, 2007. Preceded in death by his parents and one infant brother Bernard. Rev. Anderson “Andy” KWANKIN, age 73 of York, NE died Dec 22, 2007. Born Aug 27, 1934 in Pauri, Garwhal India to Wilkinson and Basanti Kwankin. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Edward Wilkinson and a grandson Isaac Hmieleski. Funeral services were Dec 26, 2007 at the First United Methodist Church in York. Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery at York. Irene V. ANDERSON, age 86, of Osceola, NE died Jan 21, 2008. ROMMERS, 82, of Leesburg, FL, formerly of Osceola and Columbus, died Jan 17, 2008 at home. Albert was born in Cologne, Germany on Oct 24, 1925 to Walter and Margaret Rommerskirchen. He moved to Florida in June of 1986. Funeral services were held Jan 22, 2008 with interment in the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. Gass Haney Funeral Home in Columbus is in charge of arrangements. Terry had Downs Syndrome and diabetes and his body was donated to the anatomical board for research. Born May 8, 1965 in Neligh to Warren and Marilyn (Rockford) Nolan. Preceded in death by his grandparents Mayme Rockford and John and Marie Nolan. Walter A. SCHMITT, age 94 of Utica, NE, formerly Gresham, died Jan 18, 2008 in Lincoln, NE. He chose to donate his body to the Nebraska Anatomical Board for education and medical research. A memorial service was held Jan 23, 2008 at Metz Chapel in York. His ashes will be interred at Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Gresham, beside his parents, at a later date. Ruth W. PRELL, age 95 of Lincoln, died Jan 17, 2008. She was born in Polk Co., NE on Feb 13, 1912 to Miles L. and Louisa (Beebe) Ransom. Preceded in death by her husband Philo M. Prell. Funeral services were held Jan 22, 2008. at the Unitarian Church. Burial was in Hoffer Cemetery in Gresham, NE. Funeral services for Marcella SHOLES, age 82, of O’Neill were held at Word of Life Christian Center in O’Neill, with burial in the Star Cemetery. Biglin’s Mortuary in O’Neill was in charge of arrangements. She passed away Jan. 30, 2008. Preceded by her parents, her husband, Robert, in 1990, 1 infant brother and 1 son-in-law, Dennis Wichersham LaVern “Sonny” PENSICK, age 76, of Columbus, died Jan 27, 2008 at his home in Columbus. Funeral services Jan 31, 2008 at St. Isidore Catholic Church in Columbus. Burial with military honors by American Legion Hartman Post #84 Honor Guard will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Marilyn Marjorie JOHNSON, age 64 of Osceola, NE, died on Jan 26, 2008 following a battle with cancer. Memorial service was held Jan 29, 2008 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Osceola.
