Virginia A. SCHNEIDER, 74, of Lincoln, Nebraska, formerly of 
Cozad, Nebraska, died Dec 8, 2007. Born on Jan 9, 1933, to Russell Dorsey 
and Lucille Jackson in Cozad. Preceded in death by her husband, Chris; brother, 
Jake Dorsey; and mother and step-father, Lucille and Lyle Deal. Services were 
held Dec 12, 2007, at the Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, Lincoln. Interment 
was at Lincoln Memorial Park.

Violet Lucille HODSON, 99, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died Dec 28, 2007.
Born on Dec 21, 1908, to Jesse and Rose (Curry) Carr on the family farm 
at Stockville, Nebraska. On Nov 15, 1936, married Howard A. Hodson at 
Gothenburg. Preceded in death by her parents. Memorial services were 
Jan 4, 2008, at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel in Gothenburg. A private 
family burial was held at the Grandview Cemetery in Gothenburg.

Lydia WEST, 91, of Lexington, NE, died Dec 29, 2007 in Kearney, NE.
Born June 3, 1916, at Arlington, Minnesota, to Carl Wilhelm and 
Elizabeth K. (Letzrik) Wirth. Married A. Ernest West on May 21, 1939, at 
Trinity Lutheran Church in Lexington. Preceded in death by her parents; 
husband, Ernest; five sisters; two brothers; and one great-grandson.
Services were held Jan 3, 2008, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lexington. 
Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington.

Gladys M. KNOEDLER, 92, of Omaha, Nebraska, passed away Dec 30, 2007.
Born Sept 13, 1915, near Lexington, Nebraska, to Charles and Dollie (Dingee) Brand.
On June 7, 1936, married Carl Christian Knoedler. Preceded in death by her parents; 
her husband, Carl; her son, Carl, Jr.; and six brothers, Herman, Harry, Arthur, 
Casper, Ralph, and Walter. Services were held Jan 4, 2008, at Reynolds-Love Funeral 
Home in Lexington, NE. Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington.

Sarah A. HAWK, 89, of Lexington, Nebraska, formerly of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died 
on Dec 30, 2007. Born on Oct 28, 1918, at Bell Plains, Kansas, to Homer Prince Waller 
and Jossie Pearl Griffin. Married Roy E. Bailey. Roy died in 1948. She then married Elmer 
Hawk in 1961 and he died in 1979. Preceded in death by her husbands, Roy and Elmer; 
infant children, Mary Alice and Randy Lee; her sons, Kenneth, Darrell, Bill and Jack Bailey; 
a step-son, James Hawk; and her brothers, T. Edward, John, and Arthur Waller.
Funeral services were held Jan 5, 2008, at the Berean Bible Church, Lexington. 
Burial was in the Gothenburg Cemetery.

Betty McINTOSH, 79, of Gothenburg, NE, died on Jan 3, 2008.
Born on Feb 12, 1928, to Gust Emil and Alice Irene (Floro) Viter at Gothenburg. 
Married Alfred DeFruiter and they had seven daughters, Linda, Cheryl, Donna, 
Roxie, Sandy, Karen, and Lana. Later in life she married Russ McIntosh and to 
this union was born a daughter, Shanna. Preceded in death by her parents; and 
nine brothers and sisters; a grandchild Markie Rae Devine; and a 
great-grandchild, Aydan Lee Defruiter. Funeral services were held on Jan 7, 2008
at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg. Burial was in the Gothenburg Cemetery.

Maxine D. KOCH, 82, of Grand Island, NE, died Jan 3, 2008.
Born on June 20, 1925, at Eustis, Nebraska, to Gust and Blanche (Tunis) Kiesel.
Married Rudolph Koch on May 14, 1943, in Gothenburg, NE. In addition to her 
parents, she was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Colin Saddler; her 
son-in-law, Tom Anderson; three sisters, Esteline, Colleen, and Betty Jean; 
and one brother, Gilbert. Funeral services were held on Jan 8, 2008, at 
Calvary Lutheran Church. Burial was at the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Ralph Edward WEICHEL, Sr. 93, of Kearney, NE, died Jan 4, 2008.
Born Oct 18, 1914, at Clinton, Missouri, to Aaron Benjamin and Anna 
Lydia (Epperson) Weichel. Married Mildred "Dodi" Duncan on Oct 23, 1934, at 
Sterling, Colorado. Dodi preceded Ralph in death in Oct of 2005.
Serveed in the U. S. Army during WWII. Preceded in death, in addition to 
his wife, by his parents and two sisters. Funeral services were held Jan 7, 2008
at Lexington Christian Church. Burial was held at Fort McPherson National Cemetery 
at Maxwell, Nebraska.

Sara Elizabeth Thomas MAY was born in Clover, SC, on Jan 14, 1914, to Joseph 
Ernest and Mary Elizabeth Greene Thomas and died on Jan 4, 2008, in North Platte, NE 
following surgery, being only 10 days from 94 years of age. Married Wayman Elwood 
May, on May 8, 1943. Preceded in death by her parents; her four brothers, Melvin, J.E., 
James, and Max; and a great grandbaby, Connor Goode. Funeral services were held at 
the First United Methodist Church in Cozad on Jan 6, 2008. Interment was a private 
family burial at Fort McPherson Cemetery in Maxwell, NE, Jan 7, 2008.

Alice MAJOR, 83 of Eustis, Nebraska, died Jan 4, 2008, in Elwood Nebraska.
Born May 11, 1924, near Eustis to John and Minnie Schaad Laier. On June 27, 1948
married Merle D. Major at St. John's Lutheran Church at Eustis. Preceded in death 
by her husband in 1988; two brothers, Duane and Floyd; and a sister, Loreen.
Services were held Jan 7, 2008, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Eustis. 
Burial was in the East Cemetery at Eustis.
