Grant Tribune July 2008 Lavona NELSON was born on June 5, 1915 near Jennings, NE to Charles and Avis Stocker Bard. Married to Floyd Nelson on Jan. 9, 1937 at the United Presbyterian Church parsonage in Minden. In addition to her parents and her husband who died in 2000, she was preceded in death by her brother Ted Bard, her sister Wilma Mix, and a great-grandson- Christian Thurin. Funeral services were held July 14, 2008 at the Palisade United Methodist Church. Interment was at the Palisade Cemetery. Ione J. GIBSON, 88, of North Platte, NE, formerly of Wallace, NE, died July 9, 2008. Born July 10, 1919 at Funk, Neb., to Carl and Minnie Eckloff Hawkinson. On April 17, 1938 she married Earl K. Gibson of Wallace, at Venango, NE. They resided in the Wallace area the majority of their 70 years of marriage. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother; four sisters, Evangeline Wecker, Elvera Lange, Corrine Baker and Darlene King; and two great-grandsons. Funeral services were held July 12 at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church. Interment was at the Morningview Cemetery in Wallace. Memorial services for Thomas C. BROWN, who died on June 13, 2008 will be held Friday, Aug. 1, 2008 at Carpenter Memorial Chapel in North Platte, NE. Inurnment will be at the Grant Cemetery. Archie ARMBRUSTER was born on Feb. 10, 1919 at Brule, Neb. He was the seventh of 10 children born to William "Tex" and Lillie Mae Guillan Armbruster. Archie joined the U.S. Army in 1941. Married to Loretta Deen on May 16, 1948 in Grant, Neb. He died on July 26, 2008 in Kearney, NE. He had reached the age of 89. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, three sisters and three infant children, Joseph, Denise and Louise. Funeral services were July 30 at the Grant United Methodist Church. Burial was in the Grant Cemetery with a tribute by the Perkins Co. veterans. Delbert EDWARDS was born on June 13, 1916 on the family farmstead south of Grant, Neb. He was the fifth of nine children born to Fred and Cora Pringle Edwards. As a young boy his older brother dubbed him with the name of "Little Jim" which stuck with him his entire life. Married to Vivian Pierce on Aug. 13, 1938 at Imperial, Neb. He died peacefully on July 25, 2008. He had reached the age of 92. In addition to his parents and his wife, Jim was preceded in death by his four brothers, Theron, Everett, Wesley and Floyd; and two sisters, Nellie Makinster and Margie Edwards.
