Born on Feb. 21, 1924 to Walter and Ellen (Wedell) Carlson in Ceresco. Enlisted in the USAF and served during WWII. His parents and a brother-in-law, James Tiernan, preceded him in death. A memorial service will be held at the Ceresco Covenant Church, Mar 8, 2008 jointly with his sister, Marilyn Carlson Tiernan, who died Feb. 23, 2008. Burial will be in Fridhem Cemetery at Swedeburg. Born Aug. 15, 1932, to Harry Barker and Edna West Barker in Theresa, NY. He joined the U.S. Army and served in Korea where he was wounded and received the Purple Heart. ASHLAND - Charles Louis CASE, 64, of Ashland, died Mar 14, 2008, at Veteran's Hospital in Omaha. Born on Oct. 10, 1943 in Omaha. He served in the U. S. Navy from 1960 to 1964. He lived most of his life in the Ft. Worth, Texas area until moving to Ashland in the last few years. He is preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Kathleen; twin brother, Elmer; brothers Oren and Edgar; sisters Frances Timm, Mable Browning, Caroline and Clara Kolb. ROCK RAPIDS, Iowa – Helen MANGOLD, 96, of Rock Rapids, Iowa, formerly of Ashland died Mar 24, 2008 in George, Iowa. Born Oct 14, 1911 on the family farm near Inwood, Iowa, the daughter of William F. and Kate (Finck) Klein. Helen moved near Omaha to work as a nanny and met her husband to be, Kenneth Mangold. They married on Sept 29, 1940 and lived in Omaha for several years before moving to Ashland. Kenneth died Nov 12, 2001. Preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Kenneth Mangold; a granddaughter, Rochel; two sisters, Alvira Katt and Kathryn Klein; six brothers, Elmer Klein, Wilbur Klein, Glen Klein, Larry Klein, and Howard Klein; special friend, Ann Ringler. Preceded in death by an infant daughter, Julie Ann Scanlon, his parents, brothers, Joe and LaVerne Scanlon, and sisters, Lucille Scanlon and Theresa Scheiding.
