Lester O. WIDGA, age 92, of Stromsburg, NE, died Mar 1, 2008.
Funeral services were Mar 4, 2008 at the United Methodist Church in Stromsburg. 
Interment was in the Stromsburg Cemetery with Military Rites by Stromsburg 
American Legion Post 132. Dubas Funeral Home of Stromsburg and Osceola 
was in charge of arrangements. Preceded in death by his parents Edward and 
Lillie Widga; great granddaughter Addison Johnson; two brothers and their wives 
Lyle and Irene and Lloyd and Helga.

Richard L. DUBAS, age 42, of Columbus, NE died Mar 2, 2008 at Meadville, NE
north of Ainsworth. Funeral services Mar 6, 2008 at St. Isidore Catholic Church 
in Columbus. Burial is in the Columbus Cemetery with military honors by Hartman 
Post #84 American Legion Honor Guard. Preceded in death by his maternal and 
paternal grandparents. 

Gerald (Jerry) HEGEHOLZ was born on the family farm near Staplehurst, NE on 
Dec 7, 1925 to Henry and Anna (Schmieding) Hegeholz. On Feb 27, 2008, at age 
82 years, 2 months and 20 days, he died. He was preceded in death by his parents 
Henry and Anna (Schmieding) Hegeholz; sister Shirley Luebbe; niece and nephew 
Janeen and Jay Luebbe. Funeral services were held Mar 1, 2008 at Our Redeemer 
Lutheran Church. Interment was in Our Redeemer Lutheran Cemetery with military 
rites by Utica American Legion Post #49. Arrangements were by Volzke 
Funeral Home in Seward. 

Betty Jean ZWIEBEL, 75, of Loveland, died Feb 17, 2008. Born Jan 3, 1933 in 
Stromsburg, NE to Luther and Mildred (Hernbloom) Kreis. She was preceded in 
death by her parents and a brother Don Kreis. 

Helen Irene EHLERS of Waco died Feb 25, 2008 at the age of 84 years, 10 months 
and 15 days.  She was born April 12, 1923 at Hampton NE to Fred and Elsie (Sagehorn) Rhode.  
Preceding her in death are her parents; grandson Jordan John Hall; infant brothers, Donald and 
Delbert; sisters Elvera Weiler and Luella Rash; brothers and sisters-in-law, Leonard Ehlers, Edna 
and Alferd Sackschewsky, Gertrude and Bill Sackschewsky, Alvin Ehlers, Fred Littau, Erich 
Heiden, Elmer Sackschewsky and Richard Pinnow. Funeral services were held Feb 29, 2008 at 
the Zion Lutheran Church in Thayer. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Metz Mortuary 
in York was in charge of arrangements. 

Jodette Lee SCHOTT, age 41, of Omaha, died Feb 22, 2008 at home. 
Born Nov 20, 1966 at Osceola, NE to Sid and Brenda (Mask) Dunn.

Martha M. SCHREIBER, 98, of Columbus, NE, died Mar 9, 2008.
The funeral service was held Mar 13, 11:00 A.M. at St. John’s Lutheran 
Church, Shell Creek. Interment was in the Roselawn Memorial Cemetery. 
Gass Haney Funeral Home in Columbus was in charge of arrangements. 
Preceded in death by her parents William & Ella Benning, husband Paul 
Schreiber on July 14, 1994, and sisters Elisabeth (Robert) Newman 
and Clara (Oscar) Schreiber. 

Wilbur Rudolph Albert EPKE, age 90 of York, NE, died Mar 8, 2008.  
Preceded in death by his parents, wife, three brothers: Rudolph, Walter
and Ralph; four sisters Alma Epke, Anna Ranes, Norena Rich, Paula Behmer; 
and a sister in infancy. Funeral services were held Mar 12, 2008 at the 
First Evangelical Lutheran Church in York. Military graveside services 
followed at York’s Greenwood Cemetery. 

George GIANNOU, 83, of Columbus died Mar 6, 2008 in Stromsburg, NE.  
Services were held Mar 10, 2008 at McKown Funeral Home. Interment 
was in Roselawn Cemetery with military honors by Hartman Post #84 
American Legion Honor Guard. Preceded in death by his father 
Michael, mother Stella, sister Penny Vlassie, brother John Giannou 
and wife Helen “Elaine” Giannou. 

James H. INGALLS, age 98, of Shelby, NE, died Feb 25, 2008. 
Funeral services were Feb 28, 2008 at United Methodist Church in Shelby. 
Interment was in the Shelby Cemetery. Preceded in death by his wife 
Helen, his parents John and Nellie; brothers Glen, Harold, Jack and Bob; 
sisters Blanche Brigham, Grace Antonelli, Virginia Riblett, and Helen 
Douglas; and daughter-in-law Janet Ingalls.

Robert Earl McCORMICK III was born Mar 12, 1944 in Council Bluffs, IA. 
His parents were Robert Earl McCormick II and Carolyn Louise Hall McCormick.
He died Feb 28, 2008 in Provo, Utah. 

Dorlene M. MURRAY, age 86, of Fremont, died Mar 15, 2008 in Fremont. 
Born Sept 23, 1921 in Stromsburg to William and Mary (Fellows) Nelson.  
Funeral services were held Mar 21, 2008 at the First Baptist Church in 
Fremont. Burial was in Memorial Cemetery in Fremont. Moser Memorial 
Chapel in Fremont was in charge of arrangements. 

Vava G. PIETERS, age 94, of Rising City, NE, died Mar 17, 2008.
Funeral services were Mar 20, 2008 at Dubas Funeral Home in Osceola. 
A private interment was held at Circle Mound Cemetery in Rising City. 
Dubas Funeral Home of Osceola and Stromsburg was in charge of 
arrangements. Preceded in death by her husband Ted; two brothers, 
Claude and Lester; three sisters, Lorreta Dienstbier, Iola Schmoker 
and Opal King.

Funeral services for Maxine M. BALS, 76, of Madison were held Mar 26, 2008 
at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Madison.  Burial was in Crown Hill Cemetery.  
Resseguie Funeral Home, Madison was in charge of arrangements. She died 
Mar 22, 2008 at Faith Regional Health Services West Campus. Preceded in 
death by one daughter Carol Zessin and one brother Kenny Sohl.
