Ashland Gazette May 2008 WAHOO - Marie M. CAHA, 91, of Wahoo, died May 2, 2008. Born on Aug. 12, 1916 to Joseph and Mary (Jasa) Cejka at Weston. She obtained her teaching certificate and also had an endorsement in music. She had the honor of being Luther College's first homecoming queen in 1937. On Mar 23, 1944, married Rueben Caha at the Presbyterian Church in Pensacola, Fla., where Rueben was stationed in the Navy. Her brothers, George, Paul and Vladimir Cejka, and sister, Esther Cejka, preceded her in death. Funeral service held May 6 at the Czech Presbyterian Church in Wahoo. Burial will be at the Czech Presbyterian Cemetery. LINCOLN - Mark Allen CARNICLE, 62, of Lincoln, passed away May 3, 2008. Born on June 18, 1945 in Lincoln to Larry and Dorothy Carnicle. Mark grew up in the Ashland, Murdock and South Bend areas and was a 1963 graduate of Elmwood-Murdock High School. Funeral services May 7, 2008 at the American Lutheran Church in Ashland. Burial at the Ashland Cemetery. WAHOO - Marie P. JONAS, 78, of Wahoo, died May 1, 2008 in Lincoln. Born on Aug. 11, 1929, to Joseph and Anna (Mlynarik) Kremlacek in rural Weston. Married Frank J. Jonas on May 10, 1955, at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Plasi. They lived on their farm near Swedeburg. Preceded in death by her husband; sisters, Anna Stejskal and Mildred Kremlacek and brothers, Joseph and Roland Kremlacek. A sister, Martha Rezac of David City; many nieces, nephews and cousins survive her. Mass of Christian Burial was held May 5 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Wahoo. Interment was at St. Francis Cemetery in Wahoo. PRAGUE - Helen D. MACH, 95 of Prague died April 30, 2008 in Wahoo. Born on Feb. 8, 1913, to August and Mary (Ourada) Kaspar on the family farm near Prague. She attended school at Saunders County School District 51. On April 6, 1935, she married Rudolph Mach in Prague. They farmed in the Prague area their entire lives. Her parents; husband; two sisters, Anna Kaspar and Lillian Kadlec and one brother, Joseph Kaspar, preceded her in death. Funeral service May 3, 2008 at Kucera-Kracl Funeral Home in Prague, NE. Burial will be at the Prague National Cemetery in Prague. WINDSOR HEIGHTS, Iowa - Phil M. NEGLEY, 88, died at home on April 30, 2008. He was born on July 8, 1919 in Wahoo. He grew up in Ashland and moved to Des Moines in 1969. He served in WWII and received the American Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. Funeral services May 7 at Windsor Presbyterian Church of which he was a member. Cremation followed the service. SEOUL, South Korea - Bryce Lee PARKS, 52, died suddenly of natural causes Dec. 23, 2007 in Seoul, South Korea. Born Nov. 8, 1955 to Charles L. and Virginia (Vance) Parks in Steele City. In 1996 he married Ida Dosdos in Pasay City, Manila, Philippines. He is preceded in death by his father, Charles and sister, Brenda. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Memorial Day, May 26, at 11 a.m. at Hakone Gardens in Saratoga, CA. WESTON - Stanley A. SABATKA, 77, of Weston, died May 6, 2008 in Wahoo. Born on Oct. 28, 1930 to Mathew and Helen (Handler) Sabatka in rural Ceresco. He was a 1947 graduate of Valparaiso High School. On June 1, 1957, married Patricia Albin at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Brainard. Preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Milton and Matthew Sabatka. Mass of Christian Burial held May 12, 2008 at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Weston. Interment will be at Znojemsky Cemetery in Weston. FREMONT - Emily P. VECH, 100, of Fremont, formerly of Cedar Bluffs, died May 7, 2008. Born May 23, 1907 to John and Anna (Ondracek) Zakovec in Morse Bluff. Married Louis Vech on Mar 12, 1941 in Wahoo. Preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers, Louis, Frank and John Zakovec and two infant brothers. Funeral services were held May 9 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Cedar Bluffs. BOUC, 71, of Ceresco, died May 16, 2008. Born on July 6, 1936 to George Sr. and Blanche (Pekarek) Bouc at Wahoo. Served in the Air National Guard from 1961 to 1964. Married Therese Vrbka on Oct. 3, 1964 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Ulysses. Preceded in death by his parents, and nephews, David and Lyle Bouc. He served in the Navy during the Korean War. Married Marilyn Moran on May 25, 1953 at Weston and they made their home in Lincoln until moving to Schuyler in 1971. Funeral mass was held on April 23 at St. Augustine's Catholic Church in Schuyler. Funeral services were held May 19 at Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont. Burial was at Ridge Cemetery. YUTAN - Bernard J. LYNCH, 79, of Yutan, died May 17 at Lakeside Hospital in Omaha. Born in a sod house on Dec. 12, 1928 to Phillip and Florence (Powers) Lynch in Oconto. He served in the USAF from 1951 to 1955 and was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant. On May 2, 1959, he married Lois H. Wiederin at St. Cecilia Cathedral in Omaha. He was preceded in death by his wife; an infant daughter, Anne Elizabeth; brothers, Lawrence, Phillip and Patrick Lynch; and a sister, Marie Leibhart. ELKHORN - Elizabeth MART, 84, died May 1, 2008. Born May 1, 1924 to Louis and Emma (Urbanek) Bouc at Touhy. Married Vincent "Red" Mart on May 13, 1944, while he was in the service. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; and brothers-in-law. Funeral service was held May 5 at the Warner Funeral Home Chapel in Spencer, Iowa. Burial was at Riverside Cemetery in Spencer. OSAGE, Minn. - Arvilla Marie NILSON, 87, of Osage, Minn., died April 26, 2008 in Menahga, Minn. Born on Dec. 7, 1920, to Rudolf and Maria (Hoffman) Rabbass on the family farm near Colon, NE. On Nov. 10, 1940 she married Carl V. Nilson at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Cedar Bluffs. They made their home on a farm near Ceresco. They moved to Minnesota in 1954. Preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Willmond Rabbass and a great-grandchild, Angel Staves. Funeral service was held May 3 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Park Rapids. Burial was at Riverside Cemetery in Osage, Minn. PRAGUE - Edward L. OURADA Sr., 83, of Prague, died May 11, 2008 in Wahoo. Born on Aug. 14, 1924 to Anton and Rose (Vrana) Ourada at Rescue, NE. He attended grade school at District 51 near Prague. He farmed near Rescue for a few years before entering the U. S. Army during WWII where he was stationed in Hawaii. After the war he continued to farm near Rescue. On Aug. 21, 1950 he married Henrietta Novak at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Plasi. Preceded in death by his wife, his parents, a son-in-law, Johnny Petrzelka, a brother, Leonard Ourada, sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Ernest Sholtz, sisters-in-law, Gladys and Coleen Ourada. Funeral service held May 14 at Svoboda Funeral Home Chapel in Wahoo. Interment at the Prague National Cemetery with military honors by Prague American Legion Post 254. Funeral services for James C. "Jim Bob" RAY of Eagle were held May 19 at Roper and Sons Chapel in Waverly. Ray died May 15 in Waverly. He was 52. Ray was born Sept. 26, 1955 to J. C. and Harriet A. (Zimmerman) Ray. His mother, Harriet, preceded him in death. Burial was at the Eagle Cemetery. A celebration of life service for Lorraine Fern RETZLAFF of rural Lincoln held May 22, 2008 at Faith Lutheran Church, Lincoln. Lorraine died May 16, 2008 at the age of 87. She was born on Feb. 4, 1921 to Elmer and Lizzie Hanson on a farm southeast of Mead. She was preceded in death by son Keith, parents, sister, Mildred Robbins and brothers, Don, Lyle and Forrest Hanson. Burial will be at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Walton, NE. WESTON - Stanley A. Interment was at Hollst Lawn Cemetery in Yutan. MEAD - Walter E. SWANSON, 94, of Mead, died May 19, 2008 in Wahoo. Born Mar 27, 1914, to Fred J. and Lydia Josephine (Edgar) Swanson in Mead. His parents preceded him in death. He is survived by his sisters, Lorraine Mott of Gainsville, Fla., Margaret Swanson of Wahoo, Ruth Widman of Batavia, Ill., Dorothy (Clare) Strandberg of New Richmond, Wis., Marian Johnston of Fayetteville, Ark.; nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews. Funeral services held May 24 at Mead Covenant Church. Interment at Morningside Cemetery in Mead. ASHLAND - Margaret A. "Marge" Peirce VOSLER, 71, of Ashland, died May 11, 2008 in Lincoln. Born on Aug. 13, 1936 in Lincoln to Gerald and Sylvia (Stiastny) Peirce. Married Preston "Buster" Vosler on Feb. 4, 1956 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She is preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Charles Peirce.
