Enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1944. He married Arlene "Tootie" Boock on Sept. 28, 1944, in Wakefield while on leave from the military. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Carl, Albert and Gilbert; and two sisters, Evelyn Jones and Maryann Lundin. OAKLAND, Neb. -- Gladys L. Ethel Weibke Luhr English was born Sept. 19, 1920, on a farm about five miles southwest of Pender. She was the eighth of 12 children born to Herman and Katie (Gilster) Luhr. On Nov. 28, 1952, she married Drexel English in Fremont, Neb. Drexel passed away Sept. 25, 2006. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Drexel; four brothers, Lloyd, Clarence, Carl and Raymond Luhr; and six sisters, Alverna, Loretta and Cecilia Luhr, Vivian Walters, Audrey Smith and Evelyn Luhr. Wintz Funeral Home in Crofton. Elizabeth grew up in the Crofton area and married Victor P. Hames on May 2, 1944 in Constance, Neb. He died Aug. 8, 1977, at the age of 62. She taught art in Laurel, Neb., from 1973 to 1975. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Edward and Hellen Krist and Sam and Sarah Badalamenti; and her father-in-law, Morrie Sandahl. David John Morris was born in Winnebago, on July 8, 1954, to William Morris Sr. and Arlene Horn. He married Dena Rae Cook of Macy, Neb. in 1973. They had two children, Marcella Julia and Kenneth Jerry. He married Valencia Adele Grant of Sioux City on Feb. 14, 2004. They had two sons, David John Jr. and Lightning Nealle Wayne. He was preceded in death by his father, William Morris Sr.; and a stillborn brother. SIOUX CITY -- Robert "Bob" SIMONIN, 74, of Clarion, Iowa, formerly of Sioux City, passed away Oct. 26, 2008, at his residence. Services at First United Methodist Church in Clarion. Bob was born on a farm south of Wayne, Neb., on Nov. 10, 1933, the son of Walter J. and Lois Faye (Corzine) Simonin. In 1953, he entered the U.S. Air Force for four years. He married Ruth Willer in June 1960. Ruth passed away in 2002, after 42 years of marriage. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother; and his wife, Ruth. SERGEANT BLUFF -- Douglas L. WATERBURY, 55, of Lincoln, Neb, formerly of Sergeant Bluff, passed away suddenly Friday, Oct. 24, 2008, at his residence. Graveside services at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery, Lincoln. Althea was born in Wausa, Neb., to Larry and Matilda (Moeller) Gillilan. Her first husband, Werner Roell, was a young German soldier, who served in the American Armed Force. Later in life, she married Gilbert Olson, retired farmer and amateur rock hound. She is survived by a brother, Dalton Gillilan of Wausa; and six nieces and nephews and their families.
